How many actually got the OTA?

Still being a real newbie with my droid - and not expecting the update very soon as well - my question is - and hopefully not OT - but how are you notified that your phone can be updated?? By email - by special message on the phone?? A pop up of some kind?? Just so I don't delete it or not take the appropriate action when/if it arrives

For those of you who got the OTA update what does your menus say when going into "about your phone". I did a force update and have to return this phone for a refurb. I need to know if I should revert back to stock OS or not. In model number is says "droid", firmware verzion "2.0-update1", Baseband Version C_01.3E.03P, Kernel Version "2.6.29-omap1-g7fa8788 android-build@apa26#1", build number ESE81.

I got the OTA and that is what I have, although I think you meant to type "2.1-update1"

O man-o-man - I was just sitting here getting ready to go to bed and my phone clinked - and I have the new update - it just popped up - and I have only had my phone for a couple of weeks now - last thing I expected LOL - at least for a couple of weeks - but it is downloading now!!!!!:icon_ banana:

ETA - just had to try one thing - on google maps - the pinch thing - and it works!!! YEEHAAA

I just got mine a few minutes ago, prompted when I was about to send a txt. I live in the Philadelphia area but bought it and its registered to a DE number. Dont know if that matters. However, a friend of mine in DE has yet to get it.

You'll get a pop-up that looks a lot like the force close window (at least in color and etc) that will say there is an update available for your phone. It should have to options. Something like "install now" and "wait"

At least, that's how the very first ever Android update went on the G1.

For the purposes of this thread, I'll add that I haven't received mine yet, and as far as I know, my cousin/roommate (who bought his Droid at the EXACT same time I got mine) hasn't gotten his either.

I know that it'll be irrelevant as more time passes, but is it possible we can get a poll in this thread, or a way for people to click "I got mine OTA" so that we can get a rough count of forum members who received the update?

Sorry to post again on this thread without having any new news, but for those of you who've received the update, could you please let us know what condition your phone has/was in before getting the notification? Ie, always stock, rooted & back to stock, manually updated to 2.0.1 but kept it stock?

Ok - the update arrived at 1:30am EST - on my new - almost virgin - stock (I guess) moto droid - all by itself - took about 2 minutes - accepted the update and it did it all by itself

I'm seeing on other threads now many others reporting getting it OTA. Looks like they've opened it up quite a bit now.

Got the Droid when first available. Always stock. Updated overnight 4/1-4/2

Just got my 2.1 update this morning, pushed out, took a minute. Trying to figure out what is different now.

Where is the list of what is new? This is a stock, non-rooted MotoDroid.
