How much data are you using a month?

Ya I'm sure the gamers are pulling in a lot. I always have it in the back of my mind that Verizon will just up and pull the plug and make us all pay per mb ........I don't see it happening but you always fear that stuff.

You signed a contact with Verizon for unlimited, they could refuse to continue it after the 2 years, but they can't up and drop you from it without breeching the contract

No offense by any means but people pulling that much data a month are the reason others are being forced to deal with over priced tiered data plans. I am grandfathered into the unlimited but my wife who just got a Droid had to get the 2gb data package. Even on my unlimited plan I don't get over 1GB per month. Remember the greed of a few affects the practices of the many. Won't be long before they kill every ones unlimited plans if things keep up, instead of just cutting back the top 5% they will punish everyone.

+1 totally agree

There are arguments for both sides. I used to be for wanting to bash those that used massive amounts. But I've kinda changed. Unlimited should be unlimited. Period. So, I say have at it. I tend to use in moderation because I'm rooted and I tether without paying for it, so I kinda wanna lay low :)

I'm not making any quotes, research will give you the whole story. But I'm sure there will be changes but for the good of consumers. Do research on where lte came from, analog, who sold it, government, to who, Verizon and other companies, and the FCC regulations. There are regulations in debate right now on throttling and limiting lte consumption. From what I've found and others, there is not supposed to be a limit of consumption on lte, at least in the band that Verizon is using. Just my 2 cents

Isn't the FCC Regulation only applicable to certain phone models on the 4G LTE network? I thought I read that on an article publishef recently. If I can locate the link, I'll post it when I'm back home. I barely have a data signal here in the boonies of central Michigan.

I've used near 10 GBs the past months since I had to be at the worksites on weekends and was streaming NCAA football games on Watch ESPN and streaming NFL Mobile Red Zone games for hours on end.... when I am at home and not streaming as much I still reach around 4 Gigs/month

I regularly hit 8GB a month (as much as 14GB) due to streaming NetFlix, Pandora/Google Music, downloading Roms and transferring files from and to DropBox services...

Then there is the usual internet surfing, email and Google+/Talk/Voice activities...

Funny thing is, I never even realize its going crazy til I actually care to look...

My Rezound rocks the Red N Black... Get over it... Now to get this thing Rooted!

It's like electricity rates. If you use less they simply will raise the rates to keep their profit the same. If you're paying for it get while the getting is good.

If people use less, the companies need to purchase less fuels, thus their profits pretty much remain the same. If you use more, they purchase more fuels, so you pay more in usage; however, if you really use a lot more, they are forced to expand on current facilities or build new ones...your rates go up. Most utility costs go up with labor costs and price of fuels; coal, oil, gas, etc. They do not go up because people use less!
Eventually, Verizon will be required to expand their system; and who will pay for that? And those who will complain the loudest will be those that use the most service.

Agreed. I thought 5 gigs was alot but I was mistaken. I understand Netflix has alot to do with it, and it is a very great service so I wont harp on it too much.

I am currently using about 18 to 22 gigs a month. I am also grandfathered in under a old alltel plan so i have unlimited data. 5 gigs is to low for a smart phone of any caliber. Unlimited should always be available for purchase, but not with verizon.

Out of curiosity, I logged into my Comcast account to see how much data I've been using through my broadband connection. There is an upper limit on my account that shows up and it's 250GB. I've seen several people in this thread, bash the OP for what they feel is abusive utilization of the 4G LTE data plan but honestly, I think what we're seeing is the beginnings of the next generation of technology. Someday, it could be commonplace for people to utilize a system like the 4G LTE data plan instead of a hard wired broadband system like I'm using at home and the usage profiles will continue to grow larger and larger due to the availability of things like movies and audio data streaming.

I just signed up for Netflix and as probably one of the first in my family to do so, I've set up a profile so Netflix can suggest movies to me based upon genre. My usage to date hasn't been very high because I was still poking my way around to find out what the Thunderbolt can do on the 4G LTE network. I stopped using the wifi connection at home just to see how much data I was really using via the wifi system and I still haven't broken the 4GB barrier yet and I'm on an Unlimited Data Plan with Unlimited 4G Hotspot. I've got about 10 days until my billing cycle ends and provided that the LTE Network issue we're seeing today is fixed soon, I'll probably hit 6GB, maybe 8GB if the network behaves itself, now that I've got a Netflix account and I'm in the 30 day trial period with Netflix.

Food for thought, fwiw anyway... Enjoy your evening folks!

When I used Netflix, it was easy to go 10 gigs with absolutely no tethering on 3G. Now, I average 6 gigs tethering my 360.

2.7 gigs in 10 days. So, probably about 6 gigs a month (newness wearing off).

Wait, make that 9 days. (4g is out today) LOL
