How to correctly unroot the Incredible

anyone? please... I am s-on. I have tried EVERYTHING on this thread. Formatted to Fat 32. Tried all the files. No luck... always says - NO image, wrong image in HBOOT screen. I cannot do the RUU method bc HTC sync won't work.. I always get error 170. I have been through a trillion forums trying to fix that issue as well with no luck.. SO can anyone please please help me unroot this thing? I only got it to wireless tether.. i never flashed anything on it
