How to get SD card recognized?

Did not have to format. I plugged the card into my PC and it all was there
not sure what you mean, how did that fix it
so is it mounting to your phone now?

are the files on SD card?

on SD card there may be a folder media/audio/ringtones
if not create a folder named media open it create folder named audio, open it create 3 folders
notifications, ringtones, and alarms
move files there with astro ( use muli tab,
select, move, then go to ringtone folder, paste) or from computer
may have to reboot for phone to see files

I downloaded Astro and can see my files. Some of them are ring tones I would like to assign to contacts. I can't assign them. Suggestions or instructions are appreciated. Thanks. ttb

You might want to try a ringtone app like Ringdroid if you know where your ringtone is. Have it save your ringtone as a ringtone the phone will recognize. I'm only guessing here. I use that app to covert an MP3 to a ringtone. If that doesn't work, there may be other ringtone apps that will.

The files are there and I can see them. My question now is how do I assign them to a contact?

Thank but when I edit it does not give option for r/t. It is a company phone and we use Touchdown to manage the contact list. That may be whay.

Hope this will help others with a Droid 2 Global.

What I have to do to assign a ringtone to a contact. I use Phonezoo to make ring tones from my music. I upload, edit the section of song I want then send it to my Droid.

The ring tone is saved in "downloads". From there I copy it then paste it into the "ring tone" folder.

At my "contact" screen I "hold down" with my finger on the contact that I want to assign a ring tone. The contact comes up on the screen.

I click on the file button and go to options; ring tone; then scroll to the ring tone I want and click on it.

Takes longer to type it than to do it.

I hope this helps someone but I really did it for myself as a reference.
