How to Root Droid X and install free Wifi Hotspot

I had grabbed the wrong app. I loaded wireless tether 2.0.06 for root users. Upon opening I got-
"Sorry, but your kernel does not have all necessary features for the Access Control feature of this application. Access Control will be disabled"
What should I do to gain access to the "Access Control".
Short of that the wireless applcation works fine.

Not really anything you can do. I believe access control lets you select what devices can connect to your phone. You can use WPA and set the phone to let you know when something connects, so I don't think it's a big deal..

DX rooted with 2.2 now longer works after upgrade

A little over a month ago Verizon pushed out an upgrade to my Droid X and now it is running Android version 2.2.1 and System version 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US I had the phone rooted but now it is not allowing me to start the tethering process anymore. I have read a number of threads on rooting the phones that weren't previously rooted or were running on different OS's. Can someone please help so that I can get it rooted again?

Thanks
