[HOW TO] Root your Motorola Droid RAZR [Windows Only]

So I followed the directions to the letter (not a novice, came from OG droid and rooted and switched ROMs like it was going out of style...) twice and my phone will NOT accept root. Is there something I'm missing? Both times it said it was successful and rebooted my phone...but nothing. Stock Razr with .748

I've had to run the program once or twice to get mine to take root but that only happened to me once. I'd say run it again.

Swyped from my DROID RAZR using DroidForums.

I haven't. But I would recommend using the newer Version of zerg rush. There is a version 3 when I rooted mine. I've done it twice with version three and knows it works.

I rooted today using version 2 and all seems well (at least so far). Do you have a link for Version 3? And do you know what the differences are between the two versions?

Can't get Doomlords root to take on newly RSD Fastboot and then OTA to .748. Can anybody suggest a solution? I have both V2 and V4. Both keep stalling at different points each time I run. I've rebooted the PC, restarted the phone, disconnected and reconnected the USB cable, cycled the USB Debugging and tried both versions several times over and over.

Another shout-out for zerg rush 3... my searches have proven fruitless thus far.
Any links?
...still looking. Thanks!

Catch-22

Great help thanks. From a Newbie's perspective I just wish there was a BOLD warning on this post that said something like "Warning you can lose root via OTA updates - google root keeping tools after applying this hack". But not a biggie in this world of user beware.
Thanks!

Piece of cake! ...er, gingerbread

I've had my Razr a month (build date 11/2011), scoured all the forums for rooting "gotchas", and finally rooted last night.

Followed the instructions in the first post on this thread, and was done start-to-finish in under 5 minutes. Nary a hiccup! I even shot a video of the process on my Droid X. Sadly, it's not worth watching, because it couldn't focus on the Razr screen shots NOR the laptop screens, so the details of the operation are lost.

Used Titanium Pro to backup the X, and I would "like" to think I can restore to the Razr, but I suppose I'll have to download my 53 apps from the Market all over. Unless I could put the 16gb SD card from the Razr in the X and do another backup, then put the 16gb card back in the Razr to restore?

Would that be possible?

Can someone who's rooted the MAXX test the wifi tethering and see if heavy streaming such as Netflix causes problems? Another user is reporting his Maxx is having trouble with this.
