[HOW TO] Root your Motorola Droid RAZR [Windows Only]

yeah i did both of those i guess my question is can I just stop this attempt re-install the drivers and start again? will disconnecting my phone do anything to it?

Don't know man. I'm just a dummy reading this stuff and hoping it works. I really would try to get one of the senior guys to answer you. If you do pull the usb out to start over and your phone hangs, don't forget in the quick start booklet it tells how to restart the phone from scratch sort of the equivlent to a batt pull on the Bionic or Droid X.

i don't know whats wrong but every time i run the .bat file it says the whole intro thing what to do before starting and what not. then i hit a button and it says
waiting for device
daemon not running
successfully started daemon
then nothing happens any ideas?
I've already uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and the .zip file de-bugging is on on the phone and unknown sources are enabled the phone is also in charge only mode so i don't see what's wrong unless it's my computer.

Hmm, I'm not sure what it is then... Are you on an account with admin rights on your PC? Instead of double clicking the .bat file, right click it instead and click "Run as Administrator"

See if that makes a difference.

Tony, make sure you're set for USB Debugging, Rooted, and the USB connection to the PC is set to Charge Only

Instead of just unplugging the phone, you can run the executable (as administrator) from the terminal (im not familiar with windows terminology) that way you can terminate the process if necessary (its alt-c or alt-t I think)

Hi,

This thread has really great information for the rooting malarkey, I'm totally new to this and the razr is my first phone, as soon as I heard I didn't have full control of it and there was possibly programs running in the background that I didn't want I immediately wanted to stop this, which brought me here.. so well done and thank you all for the work so far...

Now my question is this, after rooting the euro model of the xt 910, what are the key programs to uninstall? for things like data gathering, privacy and battery.

Mucho gracias!

Remy

I wanna root my Razr so bad but quick question: can I still receive software updates? Only reason why I ask is when I had my Droid 2 Global and rooted it without using a custom ROM I kept getting a "need to register with Motorola to update" or some message like that to keep me from checking for updates

Hey Guys, I need some suggestions!! I rooted my Razr, and everything went well. I installed all my apps, and now I'm stuck in a boot loop!! I've rooted several phones so I'm not such a noob, but I'm stuck now! Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!! It boots up to the eye and sometimes gets stuck there, but sometimes it gets all the way to my home screens then it reboots. HELP!! Sometimes I get a message that says Sorry, process system is not responding, forceclose or wait but sometimes I don't get anything. =/ Also, my notification light is a pinkish magenta color to.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I'm new to this as well. But in one of the guides it says to make sure you have at least 60% battery when performing a root. Otherwise it will/may bootloop.

This thread is very helpful. I want to root my razr simply to freeze the app social location. Wish I had a better reason. I've always been too chicken **** thinking I'm going to brick my phone. *fingers crossed* hopefully I won't. My main question is, what do I do to 'back up' my phone after I root? I would like as much info as I can get before I dive in and root my phone...
