How to transfer photos/files from internal memory to sd card?

I have a rooted MAXX HD. I got a sandisk 32 MB for Xmas. I have it mounted and formatted, how do I transfer files and backups to the new card from internal memory? I installed the Sandisk memory app and when I try to start backups, I get this failure error message: "Failed to read the backup information. Next backup %1$s. %1$s on %2$s"
Also, how do I save TB backups to SD card?

I don't have a Maxx but this is how I move my downloaded music from Sdcard to extSDcard. Which are the designations given the internal storage and the external Sdcard respectively.
I use an app called ES file explorer, I long press the file/folder and when the menu comes up I choose "move" I then choose the location I want to move the file/folder to.
This removes it from the original location, but I think there may be a "copy" option also.
I'm not sure if I answered your question, probably because I'm not familiar with Motorola's devices.
