How to used downloaded ringtones for text notifications

I did it!!:icon_ lala:

I'll walk the other dysfunctional people like me through it:

First i used ASTRO. made new folder titled "notifications", I downloaded ringtones via madibo, so I went to that file (in the "com" file, pressed "multi" on the bottom, pressed each song, then "edit"then "copy" , went back to notification folder and pasted.
powered down, then up again to reset everything.

then you can get to an individual text either via contacts or I used handcent.

once in the texting area , open the head/shoulders /with gear icon (don't know the official name) at the top right. this pulls up the personalization screen. press notification settings, then there s a select ringtone, if you scroll up, your downloads should be there, select one, and it should be used for that text number.

I hope I didn't embarrass myself with my newbieishness, and that I helped someone.

goodluck.

im not real sure but i have the same problem lol

this phone can do almost everything it has to be able to do this... if not.. **** kinda sucks

i just want different txt ringtones for different people... you can do it for phone calls.. i dont see why you cant do it for txt..

You can set up individual text message tones in SMS Popup. I don't think you can just via the stock texting program.

SMS popup is an app you can find in the market.

download.
click notifications.
then contact notifications.
and add ringtone..having the ring extender app helps out with this also. :)
