HTC and Connectors

Have the HTC 526 phone and have not found authoritative commentary on proper HDMI connectors between phone and television. Generic might work but do not want to risk the phone.

if the tv supports miracast, or if you have some streaming boxes connected to the tv that has miracast, you do not need hdmi cables.

as far as cables themselves, I doubt any will hurt your phone. it is usually generic power cables that will cause problems. just make sure the specs of the cable matches the requirement for the phone.
