If you call they will send it to you. Also call and say you have a D1 car holder and your new D2 wont fit they will send you a free D2 car holder.

I think you might have been a lucky one, they told me they don't replace those because they aren't under warranty, even though I explained that i never asked for a D2 nor did I want one since i was completely cool with my original, and they told me no dice...

couple people called and they sent them a new car thing because
they upgraded them to the D2 without asking.

Im sure if you talk to their supervisor and fuss about it they will
send you one free. If you think about it you shouldnt have to spend
money after your phone broke under warranty.

finaly after talkin got the supervisor and after 3 consecutive DOA droids, they kindly admitted they screwed me over a few times and are sending me a droid 2

Ok, went in to the store today after my phone wiped itself twice in the last 3 days. Also been having screen issues. VZW Rep, said that stinks, ordered me a new one overnight. Should be here tomorrow by 3pm he said. I'm not counting on it, but who knows. Maybe it will get here on time and maybe I'll be lucky and get a D2. Really only care about getting a new phone though. This auto wipe sh!t is un-sat.

I went to Verizon today and they agreed to replace my phone through the warranty service. They didn't mention anything about the droid 2 and the receipt states

"FRUMOTOA855 FRU: MOTA855 SM"

I called Verizon when I got back home to ask what phone I was getting. They said the order states that I will be receiving the original droid as a replacement. Is there still a chance that I will get the 2?

Also, they said the phone is being shipped from Verizon, not Motorola. Where did everyone else receive their phones from?

Really hope I get a droid 2 in the mail...Doesn't look hopeful?

i'm sure vzw caught on real quick that people would be jumping all over this free upgrade and made it a point to restock D1s. if you ever visit any of the deal websites, these kind of responses are not uncommon. people are always looking for a free handout. especially when they feel like they get nothing in return from a big company like vzw.

+1... Take a look at this thread. I laughed so hard reading it. I will admit I was one of the ones lucky to get a d2, but I did not want it, infact I was arguing with the rep about getting one. All those who just wanted a replacement device to fix their problems seemed to have gotten a d2. All those checking the weight of the box, coming up with phantom issues seemed to get the d1. And it is rightfully so, vzw is in the business to make money. The retail value for the d2 is 600+ so every time the give you a d2 they are giving you 600 bucks in exchange for a d1 that is worth maybe half of that.
Those who are not getting a "free" droid 2 calm down, the droid 2 hype will be down to earth real soon. I expect the inc hd, and droid pro will be more worth an early upgrade.

My receipt says the same thing. Im hopping that is what it means. I'm sure if they are gonna send you a D2 from the warehouse though the rep wouldn't know about it so the receipt would still say that. I'd really like to get another D1. 2.5 hours till the supposed delivery time. Funny though as I didn't even get an email with shop confirmation.

My D2 came from the VZW warehouse in standard refurb packaging, though it was a new phone and a separate battery cover and new battery came in a separate box.

VZW was getting some D2 chassis from Motorola to provide as warranty replacements...some of us got those, some got the entire new D2 in box, which would have been more expensive for Moto/VZW to provide than the bare chassis/battery, w/out accessories, etc.

Got a d1 (for my d1) refurb today. My current phones camera is broken (takes blurry pics in the day, cuts out part of the pic in the dark)... so that sucks, shipped from fort worthless texas, got it and the charging port was so bent that my charger wouldn't even fit in. Called vzw and they're sending me out another refurb.
the date on it was this month -- if anybody is interested.
