I love how disconnected Verizon employees are

Yea CSR's are hit and miss. I am known for hanging up in the middle of a call, and calling right back to get a more informed rep.

I have no problem asking them to find me someone that knows more than they do....It's noted in my account :icon_ banana:

I believe that you can upgrade if you got your Droid in 09 either on a 1 year contract, or if it's on the mainline of a 2 year contract.

Speaking of being informed. That same guy that I talked to the first time, I called and got him, and I immediately said, Hi, I'm looking for info on the Droid X. The guy says he hasn't heard of it yet, and I should keep my eye out on their website for it. I said, dude, it's on your website. As soon as I say this, he opens up with a tirade of information on the thing.

Must suck that we know more than them, huh? I also mentioned the DroidPro to him, and I think I blew his mind.

I've often found similar results. Really does depend on what CS rep you get. Someone will stale mate you, others will bend over backwards for you.

Luck of the draw my friend.

True that.

1) When I had my Voyager I discovered that FLO TV was available where I live. This would add $15/mo to my bill, but only $10 if I went with another data plan. I asked if the change to the other plan would be automatic and the rep said, "Yes." It wasn't. Interesting, considering what I had on my Voyager, my Droid is saving me about $17/mo.

2) Some time ago I had a problem with my Droid. The compass didn't move and when I pointed the Droid East, it said South. The tech rep said the problem was that I had over 100 apps running (she was looking at my list of apps, not running apps, and besides, I had done a battery pull in the store). She ended up doing a factory reset, which probably got rid of the app that was causing the problem.

3) I told a rep about my reception problem at my house and they sold me a Network Extender at their cost.

All three work at the same Verizon store, BTW.

That might be one of the most intelligent things I have ever heard. Too many apps running? AHAHA.

First of all, I had to make an edit to your other post, please don't use words to describe people with disabilities that they have no control over. I am an Uncle to one of those unfortunate people.

Second, I just got finished reading this thread. There is a slim and none chance you talked to the same rep today that you did the first time you think you talked to them. How do I know you ask? I was in a VZW call center for 2-1/2 years and there were 500 other people that worked in it. There are many, many call centers around the U.S. so that's why I place the odds at slim and none.

As for doing your upgrade in December of 2009 and thinking you'll get an early upgrade in July or August. No rep, whether they are a new or tenured rep can get you an early upgrade that early. Whenever a Rep goes to make an exception it has to be cleared by a supervisor because they can't just place the order. If the request for upgrade makes absolutely no business sense, it will be nixed. I saw many, many accounts over the time period I worked at VZW, and I can tell you there are a lot of outstanding accounts where there's never even been a late fee assessed. The best you're going to be able to do is maybe get an annual upgrade but that will be it. There are things that get taken into consideration, tone of the caller, the length of time with VZW, prior notes on the account, timely payments, and the old business sense ones. Sorry if I put a damper on your hopes but I'm just telling it the way it is.

Thanks....Got it on the mainline. Waiting for the next step when the droid is officially obsolete. Sounds like the end of the year when this mythical Pro is released.

The X looks great but as long as the Droid gets the same OS updates as the X then I don't see the point of upgrading.

Wife wanted the X but now the mainstream media is all over the VZ iphone so she is waiting for that. Sounds like early next year is in the cards. Bye Bye AT&T. They better have something up their sleeve or CH11 is in the cards.

A week ago I called and spoke to a rep who tells me it's possible that I may be able to get my Droid X at the contract price (I am not eligible until August of next year), because I can get my annual upgrade in December of this year. He say's it depends on who you talk to in the call center, and your credit history. He looks at my history and tells me it's the best he's seen in 3 years, which I know he's bsing me, but anyway. He says he'll check with his supervisor and call me back.

I call them today to discuss this, and there's no record on my account of our conversation, and the girl says "Sorry, you're not eligible until December, Bye"

Unreal.

Sorry they Bs'd you.
and this is a little OT.. but similar.......
I called the VZW Support other day because a BB 8330 we had was bad.. VZW transferred me to Assurion as this sucker is almost 2yrs old.

Did all the prompts and then got disconnected saying "please call back". yada yada....

Called Assurion direct, pressed 0 and it hung up on me..

I'm pissed now....

Called VZW again and told them what happened and told them to stay on the line... Next thing.. I have a FRU unit (no charge) sent Overnight to me..

So... Not sure if the moral of the store is "squeeky wheels gets the greese" or what..

I know i didn't pay Assurion a Dime and got a replacement unit...

Guess my point is..... If you get a VZW Rep that wants to help... They Can!!

I think the rep may have been referring to the 3G smartphone early upgrade? I saw it on a couple phone blogs, but it was never very clear on specifics.

The gist of it was if your contract was up in 2010, or you had a NE2 or annual upgrade due in 2010, then you could upgrade early.

She'll be waiting a long time IMHO.....

I agree. Nice article to read on that. Aparently, the "iPhone to Verizon network" rumor has happened before in the past to no avail. Verizon's 4g network isn't even slated to have 66% nantionwide coverage until 2012 and Apple snubs their nose at CDMA.
