I just watched a report on the news and they said that Google is rolling out the Jelly Bean OS for Android phones tomorrow. Is this an operating system that will be updating to Razr Maxx after ICS?

We dont even have ics yet. At least most dont. Jelly bean is the next one thouh, but I kind of doubt that the maxx will get it. Who knows though. Maxx may be forgotten about by then.

That is the hope. But I would not bet the farm on it. Most manufacturers want you to buy the newest phone in order to get the latest OS.

OMG :icon_eek: The JellyBean countdown hasn't started I hope  ICS isn't even here yet.

I know right. From what I have read Jellybean is more of a ICS upgrade then an all new OS. I think it is kind of odd how google does this. They don't even have ICS widely distributed but they are ready to announce Jellybean?

Google released ICS in November of last year. It's all on the manufactures to distribute it to their phones and provide the updates, and most of them don't do that in a timely fashion. Personally, I don't think Google should hold back improvements and advancements in the software just because the OEMs take too long to skin and test the last version.

And, by all accounts, you're right about Jelly Bean. Like Froyo (2.2) was to Eclair (2.1) and Gingerbread (2.3) was to Froyo, Jelly Bean is expected to a relatively minor bump up overall from ICS with a 4.1 version number (which denotes it being a smaller upgrade rather than a complete overhaul like changing the first the number does). That doesn't mean it will be completely devoid of any worthwhile additions and improvements though. Although I wouldn't expect a quick turn around and release from anyone besides Asus, since it's not a completely new version, hopefully manufacturers should have an easier time getting updates ready.

This time next week people will have ics on their razor and razor maxx. And some people will have ics on their brand new Samsung fallacy S3. And on both threads their will be rumors of when both phones will get JB.
