iheartradio UPDATED!

iheartradio updated again to 2.2.2
Thanks for the heads up. Maybe it will save favorites this time.:icon_ banana:

I use Cherry Rplayer... works great and offers direct links to several local stations. Allows you to connect to Shoutcast and Icecast also.

Works in Landscape, and seems to buffer just fine.

Did I mention it is FREE?? No subs and no price to download.
I use both. There's some stations that Cherry will play (like the sports radio station in Chicago I listened to all the time when I lived there) and some that I can only listen to in iHeart

Finally! iHeartRadio has always given me problems. My biggest concern is that I had full signal strength and it suddenly stopped and would never come back on. The only way I could've gotten radio again was to power cycle the phone.
And the latest version fixed it? I was having the same problems and uninstalled.

It's still not perfect, but it is getting better. I got this app the first day it came out and it seemed to work, but a few days later nothing would play so I uninstalled. After seeing on here there was another update, I got the app again, and still was not pleased, so again uninstalled. I have decided to give it another chance, and at least now I can get the stations to start playing, but I am still having issues with it stopping randomly. I have found that if I load another station, and then go back to the previous station it will play again, but having to do this every 10 minutes gets a bit cumbersome and I noticed that my battery was draining very quickly.

So for us new to this droid thing what is the best way to listen to this app and conserve battery power?

Cheers
Mike

I am also new to droids (only had mine for just over a month) so I don't have a solution. I can only assume that if it worked consistently, it would consume no more battery than a similar app such as Pandora. I can use Pandora all day at work and still have enough battery to mess around with my droid in the evening. I used iheartradio this morning for about an hour, and my battery went from 90% to 60%. When I realized this, I decided I needed my droid to last the day so I stopped using the app. I'm clearly no expert, but it would make sense that constantly switching between stations as I suggested above would drain the battery much quicker than if it just worked correctly. I still really like the app so I will hold onto until it consistently works with no issues.

I like that the favorites can be saved and available for the next time you use iheartradio. I got the latest update and on my way home from work I decided to listen to The X in Pittsburgh to catch some Penguins tidbits from Mark Madden. I was about 5 minutes into my ride, listening to the GM from the Penguins and all of a sudden, buffering.......waited about a minute or two and nothing. I ended up switching stations, it came up just fine, so I went back to The X. Obviously, this program is not without fault and if this buffer issue continues, then I might have to patiently wait for the next update.

I gave this app a whirl this morning and have to say I'm happy with its performance. I only listen to one station (DC101 in MD) and it never dropped the connection or stopped to buffer. I'm glad I do only listen to one station because the app not rotating into landscape and trying to look for something else to listen to with the phone in the car dock, in portrait mode, would suck.

I liked iheartradio, but it seemed to do weird things with the volume on my phone and I would have to reboot to get it back to normal.

Mine dropped quite a few times and just stopped. If I connect to wifi at work will that run it also? I am inside and out several times thru my work day. Godd wifi inside and 3g out shouldnt it just go from one to another?

I understand some drop but it just plain stops and I have tostart all over again

Cheers
Mike

Yeah I have a ton of issues with iheartradio. I can't get through song without it buffering or stopping completely. I still think it have some real potential but need a lots of work.

I just updated the app after seeing this and it seems to be a little quicker than it was in the short time I've used it, I'll have to start using it again to see if it has improved at all.

Has anyone else noticed that the "GPS signal" is constantly flashing when iheartradio is active?

I have used this app for hours on end plugged in. I've noticed that the phone is always very hot can take hours to go from 60% to 100% charged.

For some odd reason I don't have problems listening to "today's mix" but I can't listen to "the classic rock channel". It stops playing and goes to a blank screen. I can stop and restart the app, but most of the time I can't play more than a song or 2.

Also the built in music player starts up every time I plug in my ipod headphones.
