ok so i will admit when i first opened the box i was a little dissapointed in the phone as well it did not do things that i wanted.. i even did a fair amount of research on this before i bought it in early dec.. but i found this website and some vary helpful members\mods. your post should have been can my phone do this or this and you would have seen a lot of diffrent helpful responses. matthew answered a lot of your questions in a very polite way.. this is an open source phone it has a lot of available apps on the market try them.. if you don't like delete. this phone never has said it was a Blackberry clone it wont touch a blackberry for the professional side. you do have some legit complaints. for charger cable add a usb extension cable 3 bucks on amazon. i have spent under 50 bucks on apps that have just made the phone woderful for me. i am sure that if i gave my phone to someone else (which will not happen) they would think what the heck am i going to do with all this stuff..i hope you begin to love your phone as much as most people do on this forum and you can join the community of people trying to help people with problems/question just don't make your first post the "droid does not" start a negative post most likely gonna see negative response. btw welcome to the forums.:icon_ banana:

btw if you don't laugh at some of the responses you have no sense of humor!:icon_eek:

You guys want a bunch of bloat in the OS? seems silly. Id rather most things be apps on the market, then I have the option to install them or not.

Bingo. Android is all about choice. Hence the advertising campaign Droid Does.

Then it should be "Android Market Does"... that will be better, actually more accurate. Boy, if Google had a creative team like how many think here, Android would get crushed by the iPhone.

Thank God that isn't the case.

Coffe i totally agree with you put those additions on the marketplace at least so we can decide if we want it or not

No, it can legitimately be "Droid Does"....because it runs the Android OS, therefore it will contain the Android Market....

When it came out, it was just the MOST powerful Android phone, therefore Droid Does

The big thing of the Android OS and Open Development in general, is that it requires your customization. While I do hope to see some things integrated into the 'vanilla' OS, I love that you make these phones truly your own. Steve Jobs didn't decide how my phone looks, functions, and performs. I did :)

"Droid Allows" "Android Market Does"... or at least thats how the elitist here feel. lol

Let me go ask my mother, father, friends if they got the Droid for its lack of "out of the box" features.

You visit "mac rumors"? Go there and explain to them how customizable our Droids are and see if you can win someone over. Dare ya... I double-trible-Nickelodeon dare ya! lol

Whatever Apple is doing it is working. You can't knock them. Android is young. I think many of you "keep it slate/simple" apphuggers are going to be disappointed in the future, because Google is going to go full throttle. Mark my words. They going to war with Apple. Expect the most, not the least.

Goodnight fellas. Chilling with some ladies tomorrow. :)

Had an iphone, my pops and bro has one. It is simple to use. You can take it out of the box and as long as you have an itunes account its easy. Droid out of the box and iphone out of the box are 2 diff beasts.
iphone is good and an app machine and the simplicity and exposure helps bring in the customers. I would give my grandma an iphone because I know she could handle it. Droid requires a person who wants to customize and read up on it.
Out of the box I would not have imagined I could do what I can with this device. I was pissed in november when it didnt have sports app like itunes app store.
With apple you will get the instant gratification out of the box but the boredom creeps in quick, especially if you like to customize. The droid will piss you off out of the box (if you come from an iphone) but as you play with it and learn more; its a device that constantly surprises me and that is what is cool about it. I have not been bored with this device yet.

Ive had my droid for little over a month and a half and up to a few days ago i thought i had the best phone in the world, then i discovered this forums and i realized i had just scratched the surface of what my DROID can do!!
Search is your friend. If u cant find an answer ask.

My biggest issue is the embedded (really not embedded but will stick with it) images. This is not a Droid issue but rather a Gmail mobile issue dating back to the G1. Anyone the chooses insert picture rather then the regular way will cause this. There is no fix and Google is aware of it. Images sent from vendors etc do not have this issue probably due to true HTML embedding and using their own servers. For those that say they don't have this issue, you do. Believe me. Clicking show pictures will not work. Again., it is an issue for everyone with certain attachments that are inserted into the body.

That's true, of course. I'm skeptical though that the android app store will match Apple's anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong, but the anarchy that afflicts the android marketplace is in part a result of the "open source" culture that invites anyone and everyone to give away or sell half-finished (if that) applications.

Personally, I don't especially mind that anarchy. But I have the time and inclination to deal with it. For many consumers it's like hacking one's way through a jungle just to configure a phone for their use. And many Droid early adopters like it that way. As long as that culture holds sway, the Droid is more a playground for geeks than a serious turnkey device.
