Incredible 2 vs Thunderbolt for a non-power user

I see another problem. For some reason my computer doesn't have or recognize the ABK drive. Moreover, when my drive is connected to the computer I eventualyy lose internet (wifi) access. Are these problems connected?

I had a Tbolt, and i sold it because i wanted a ps3. Well after selling it i lost my droid incredible, so i claimed it on ins and they sent me an dinc2. Anyway, the dinc2 is just as fast as the thunderbolt as far as the os and 3g go. I like it alot more, because it fits my hand really well. Its really a great phone, and so was the tb, but they are pretty much the same phone minus 4g on the dinc2.

What exactly does "wiping my phone" mean? Taking off all apps, emails accounts, Etc? what else?
Thank you!

Doing a Data Wipe of your phone puts it back to factory settings... you lose your Accounts, Apps, Connections, etc. and have to set them up again. Unfortunately without having Root access to begin with, backups (using MyBackup Pro or Titanium) aren't complete as there are some things that cannot be backed up without root access. My suggestion would be to do a Temp Root, run your backup, then do the full Root just in case you do have to wipe the phone when perm-Rooting. (I probably shouldn't assume that a wipe is necessary before there is a perm-rooting solution out there.) If you start loading custom ROMs after rooting, then I know for a fact you will have to wipe the phone.

What is an ABK drive? (I google searched ABK drive and only came up with a song...)

Wow, you just had all sorts of issues after selling your TBolt... not only did you lose your DInc, but the PSN went down for the PS3!

The phones (on 3G network areas) are nearly identical, but I have talked about the subtle differences previously. Speed-wise, the TBolt handles the 3G data a bit more efficiently than the DInc2, but the performance of most other things to the naked eye may be negligable to many when compared side-by-side.

I just checked the WireFly videos on YouTube of both phones... the DInc2 scored a 1492 on Quadrant and the Thunderbolt scored an 1831 (both phones were "stock"). Being around computers my whole life, I would have to say that I can notice the differences in the performances, but the casual user may not notice it. They are both great phones!

I had the Tbolt but have had various issues with it.

Like GPS which will show me anywhere from the next state to the coast (I'm in SD), random rebooting (not rooted & haven't even installed the updated radio which was having that issue), extra texts with gibberish in them everytime I get a valid text, hearing notifications during a call in the earpiece over top of the caller, crackly earpiece audio, & battery life all over that map (under a Network Extender with use the same day to day). I'm an electronics tech & have tried troubleshooting it myself as well as with Verizon.

So far, neither I nor Verizon can seem to solve these issues, so they swapped me out to a refurb Incredible2 with a new battery & back cover (I was at the 7 week mark). For all the trouble I had they said to keep the 32GB card to use in the Inc2, which should be here in a few days. Since I got the Tbolt at retail, my upgrade is still wating for me (should've used it and paid retail the next time if I needed to).

From what I have seen, it's a mini Tbolt minus the kickstand (never used), LTE (which I won't have for 2 years), and without the glaring issues I had with the Tbolt. Plus after holding/playing with one in the store the feel & function was a lot better than the Tbolt (to me anyway). My main reasons to upgrade to the Tbolt from Incredible1 was larger screen, better processor, FFC & locking in LTE unlimited. But, since I don't use mobile data very much (usually on Network Extender & wi-fi) that's not really a big deal for me anymore. The 32GB card was just a bonus.

Coming from an Inc1 I think the Inc2 will be a better upgrade for me than the Tbolt. I'll hold off on LTE until they fix the issues they currently have & until it's in my area.

Help me

Somebody please help I need to know which phone to get!! I really want a phone with 4g speeds since i live in a 4g area and i like the 4.3 inch screen but I have heard people taking the thunderbolts back and many many complaints about the battery life I have watched a lot of videos on how to save the battery and they seem logical. Also i want a thin phone and the thunderbolt obviously is a very thick phone. The incredible 2 is slim and has better battery life but its not a 4g phone and it doesn't have as much storage as the thunderbolt. Also I know if i get the contract for the Incredible 2 it will be outdated with how fast technology is growing. I have used both in stores and they both seemed pretty amazing! But since they are really expensive I don't want to make the wrong choice. Is the battery life really that bad? Please help me i only have 2 days to decide!

If you go through a reseller like Costco.or sams club or amazon or wsirefly, the phones won't be expensive. I've seen the Dinc2 as low as free. I think Costco has it for $30.

Just have to look at their return policy. Might be worth it if you settle on one.

I wanted a 4g phone but opted for the Dinc2 as I liked the form factor better. Coming from a feature phone, 3g is faster than what I had.

In 2 yrs there will be more choices for LTE phones with hopefully the kinks worked out

I had the same dilemma. I actually owned the Inc2 for a week but thought it was defective because the GPS/location was dodgy. Little did I know that all HTC's at least have the same problem. Anyway, I LOVED the INC2, size, phone quality, which is very important to me, speed but the battery was no great shakes.

Anyway, I decided that if I was going to return it I wanted 4G as that is the future and so, despite the TBolt being larger, more expensive, battery problems, I traded for the TBolt. The TBolt is VERY fast. I'm in a 4G area too and its as fast as my computer. the battery life is a pain so I just constantly keep it charging if I can. I'm not convinced the phone quality is as good as the Inc2 despite everyone saying that they are the same phone except for the 4G.
While I have some remorse about the trade up, when you want to use the Internet, you can't beat the 4G.

I have no idea if this helped you or not.

I've had a couple of Bolts and a couple of Inc2's. From a standpoint of the experience and the OS, they're 99% the same and have the same feel.

I agree with Coltrane that the Inc2 is better as a phone, but the Bolt is good too. The Inc2 is the best actual phone I've had in a long time, so saying it's better than the Bolt is by no means saying the Bolt is bad - the Bolt is great as a phone as well.

Battery life sucks on the Bolt if you use it, especially on 4G, you'll be lucky to get 24 hours... on 4G the whole time, lucky to get 16 hours. The Inc2 has great battery life - 24+ hours easy. I've gone 48 (on extremely light use and on wifi, but still) and had 20% remaining.

The Bolt can do talk/data at the same time on 3G alone b/c of its SVDO chip. It's the only phone on Verizon that can do this right now, on 3G. Obviously any phone on 4G can do voice/data at the same time b/c of the different methods of transmission.

Any 4G phone is going to be larger/thicker b/c of the radio - so that depends on how much you're willing to sacrifice there. I will say the Bolt has good form factor - so despite it's thickness, it's still very "pocketable".

I've had zero gps/location issues, as opposed to Coltrane, and don't think it's a widespread problem based on what I've read and my experience with various phones. The Bolt had a ton of issues early on, most of which have been fixed now - so it's good you're not an early adopter of that phone. :)

I've stuck with the Inc2. For me, battery life is more important than super fast speeds, and the smaller size is more important. But that's what I want... you have to prioritize what's important and what's not for you.

I have to agree with Jntdroid; you have to prioritize tho his battery life on the TBolt is way better than mine which is not rooted. The GPS has gotten better and only tells me I'm somewhere I'm not for short periods of time; its not really a problem. Further, the TBolt as a phone is good but the Inc2 was great.

Having come from a BB ( absurdly slow) I just couldn't see having 3G for the next two years while 4G was available. I don't know whether I actually needed 4G but I wanted it.

Was it really needed to revive a 2-3 month old topic? But anyways.. If anything you want a 4g phone? Wait for the new Samsung SII or Bionic coming out in august. My friend and uncle have the TB and they hate the battery life as well as the TB is pretty dam heavy.
I got the Inc 2 because i read good reviews and also Verizon's change of plans forced me. Atm the phone is definitely not a regret, I have unlimited data and 3g/Wifi is pretty fast. There is also the fact with tech right now, dual-core and 4g will just kill battery life alot faster. I decided i'll take a 3g phone and just wait 2 years for my upgrade again especially since right now 4g is still pretty new to all networks and there are no verizon 4g phones which handle everything very well atm.
