Intro, travel, Europe

Hi- new member intro. I'm swapping my expiring Verizon phone for a Droid. Haven't used a 3G smart phone before so looking forward to learning. We live in US but do a lot of traveling... eg going to Eastern Europe, Spain Ireland, England this spring. Trying to figure out whether Droid will be of any use. I understand I won't be able to use it on European phone networks, so assume that use will be limited to wifi access to internet, including skype? It would be great to find a general discussion here of communication options using the Droid in various parts of the world...

I'm pretty sure the Droid will work outside of the US, because it has a simcard that's ONLY for just that...
