I've read the whole thread, you made some good comments along the way, but you made plenty of nasty ones directed at other users as well. It just seems like you should act more professional if your a super moderator. Kind of setting a bad example dont you think?

You've read one thread. You haven't read the entire board. And you've gone from me adding nothing positive to that I made good comments along the way. Would it better if I just added infractions and banned people for how they are acting instead of adding a little sarcasm until they calm down? If you'll notice, many of the people I make "snide" remarks to actually end up getting good comments from me after everything plays out.

Oh, and being a moderator doesn't preclude being human.

Dude, I'm not trying to get in an argument with you and because of that, I'm gonna make this my last post in this thread. All I was doing was callin' it how I see it and from my point of view you were making a lot of snippy comments that seem unbecoming of an authority figure.

Really? Have you ever heard of the blackberry playbook? Maybe windows phone 7? Talk of the playstation phone. Well yeah a little bit more than just android. And 60 hours of waiting watching spec viewing comparing. Apple will continue to make good products. its not like their stopping.

Blackberry needs the Playbook to be successful because the Android and iPhones are pulling their users left and right. If the Playbook fails, they are in trouble.

Windows Mobile 7 might be good. Haven't tried it yet. But they have to win back a lot of people that left them because of how abysmal everything up to 6.5 was.
Pretty sure the Playbook is going to fail regardless... Right now it's all about iPad, eventually Android tablets will match or overtake but iOS and Android will have the mindshare that Blackberry is missing out on now and still will be in the future...

I believe you're right. I think Blackberry is on life support now and won't last. They are just losing too much money left and right. The new pricing on the wifi Xoom is brilliant and will catapult the Xoom up. They just made it a VERY viable iPad alternative.

Hopefully Android will continue their growth and make strides to reduce or eliminate fragmentation. The less fragmentation, the stronger they are going to become and they will really start competing on a whole different level.

Smart move. Is that definitely unsubsidized pricing? I thought you could do some contracts through Sam's but wasn't sure.

Can't subsidize a WiFi only product :icon_ banana:

Didn't see that from the original pic. If that's the case, that's a very smart move on their behalf and really should get their sales moving. It would suck to be one of the original people to have bought the Xoom with this price drop. Hopefully they might be able to get at least some of the difference in cost back by price matching at stores.

Do any of yall remember the quick price drop of one of the iPhones after it launched? iPhone users were pissed. Apple wound up giving credits tho:

Apple Tries To Ease iPhone Customer Anger With $100 Credit -- IPhone -- InformationWeek

Personally, if you get a product at launch and it drops in price a few weeks later....so be it. No one held a gun to your head and said "GET IT AS SOON AS IT LAUNCHES!!!"

Okay how about a solid test then? Which one literally performs the greatest? Apple has an amazing thing know as originality. And that's what's good at the time. Honestly if the ipad 2 would have been released with the resolution being introduced on the ipad 3 I would've gotten it that's simply amazing. But sadly it didn't.
Apple has paved a path of technological privileges. But now the rest are here to continue paving.

No. apple will continue to innovate and everyone else will continue to play catch up. You're suggesting that apple has reached the pinnacle of it's originality and now has handed the torch to android? You need another sixty hours.

I think its safe to say that some folks have caught up...whether its fluid, smooth UI - WP7, (I would say Honeycomb but I never tried the Xoom) functionality - Android and pretty soon WP7. Put it this way, the gap between Apple and other folks as far as playing catch up is getting smaller n smaller each year.

Its the fact that apple is controlling so much with their products that makes me stead even further away.

While I don't particularly see Apple as good or evil, they certainly are brilliant. The strategic execution is really something to behold the way they leverage across platforms to entrench users, from Itunes to the prices in the App store.

Just saying that when you've dropped $200 on IPhone apps you are NOT switching platforms. That's a big turn-off to me, but to each their own. However, I won't pretend it's not a concern that all these great, free Google services I use won't end-up costing me a small fortune at some point in the future.

I take my hat off to folks that can afford to have both an iDevice and an Android device. Me? If I do get a tablet it will be either Android or Windows.

Personally, I still don't like the size. At 9-10 inches, i'd rather get a netbook. I just ordered a nook color for 200, which is more the right size for a tab, imo.

Apple makes fantastic hardware, no one can say otherwise (and be taken seriously). Its software I have issue with, namely itunes. Decouple these things from itunes and I would seriously consider them over android.

Right, I guess no one remembers how iFans downplayed resolution on other phones before the iPhone 4...

A few Win Mo and Android phones had higher res than iPhones before the iPhone 4.

So please...

I can't speak for UNC, but my point was that it's silly to tout a feature for one, and downplay the same feature for the other. It doesn't matter if you can notice a difference or not. If iFans did that, they're just as silly as the fandroids who do it.

We have people screaming "dual cores!!!!" on the 4g phones but now that Apple has a dual core, not one mention about the processor is given by a fandroid. Rather we're focusing on the XOOM's resolution, the same thing that people were saying doesn't matter as far as iPhone vs Droid phones.

I like having fair discussions, not ones where you pick and choose what makes your phone "better" than the other.

@czerdrill Actually, you did speak for me, and very well at that.
I've never once downplayed resolution, not one time. The iPhone 3gs has a lower res than most Android phones, and when that conversation was relevant was when the iPhone 3gs was in direct comparison with the Droid.... guess what, I talked up the Droid's resolution...

@jroc Didn't your parents ever tell you that two wrongs don't make a right? Your post basically said; "iFans were childish for downplaying the resolution, so its ok for fandroids to be childish about it now."

Its funny how some people paint with such a broad brush. I'm not a Fandroid or an iFan, I work too hard for my money to give it to Motorola for an inferior product just because I don't like Apple, or vice-versa.

For me, at less than 9", I'd rather just get a 4.3" phone.

I agree and love the 4.3 screen on my x. Screen size on the xoom and iPad is just right for my needs

Completely agree.

My 2 cents. As far as market share ipad brand will be tough to beat. The xoom is a good product but they priced themselves out of entry level buyers. Apple made tiered products so if u wanted a cheaper one with less memory it was available. Android tablets will become more successful with time. Just need a product at a competative price. As android is open source there.will be many more android tablets to come. As far as the blackberry tablet is concerned. It is a good product. But blackberry loyalists are not the type of person to get.a.tablet.

Hello everybody!!!

Can we please make a list of reasons to buy Apple/Android tablet over the other.

Like for example;

Apple:
Video and Graphic Editing
Music Editing

Android:
Flash gaming
output to HD

XOOM.....NO FLASH.....NO NELFIX.....NO HAPTIC.....WHERE'S THE BAROMETER.....NO FM RADIO.....NO XM / SIRUS SATELLITE RADIO BUILT IN.....NO 3D. THIS XOOM THING I OWN AND GOING TO RETURN TO BEST BUY IS A HALF BAKED PREMATURE BIRTH JUNK. MANY MANY TABS WILL BE OUT SOON PUTTING THIS THING BACK ING THE BOX JUST LIKE THAT CRAPPY GALAXY TAB I TOOK BACK. HOW DISAPPOINTING. SEEMS IPAD IS THE ONLY TAB EVEN WITHOUT FLASH YHAT IS PRETTY MUCH JAMMING STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

Satmans X
