Is anyone NOT having battery trouble?

I can't find "Network location"

I checked in the privacy settings as suggested in the droid X thread but its not listed there.

Just 2 cents worth of wisdom here but "extented battery" might be something to consider...

I got my Droid2 on Friday so been like 5 days and other then first day which i used it all day none stop off whatever charge it had out of the box, it seems it work as i expected.
This is my first smartphone so my old dumbphone would last for two days with texting and calling regularly and random goofing off(four if i did basically nothing).
but everyday but the first my droid2 last about a full day 9am to 1am ish. I have it on max battery saver setting and i have wifi on all the time in my house and off otherwise. all other features i have off. i update all my apps like facebook and news sites a lot.

good luck to people having issues but just play with the settings till you get the best results seems to be only way to do it. Im thinking of getting the extend battery anyway as i dont see any down side to having it since it seems to not add much weight or thickness. but does someone know about how much extend it is (in minutes or hours).

its been 5 days for me and its lasting about as long as my D1 which is a whole day with moderate to heavy use. I must say im really liking my D2 even though it has a bunch of useless apps that i cant get rid of

It would be under settings-location and security. I assume they are talking about the "Use Wireless Networks" option.

Yes right. Apparently unchecking that will do the trick and save battery life on droid X so worth a shot for you guys. After the update, it should be ok to leave it on.

If that doesn't seem to work for you:
-turn off GPS when done using
-turn off WIFI when done using
-reboot after charging
...all of this stuff shouldn't be necessary so hopefully the update will fix it.

so whats the best way: Lest apps? less running services?

Having a lot of apps won't kill your battery, but one poorly designed app will.

Do without if you can. Do you really need that weather widget that tracks your location and checks the network every 15 minutes? Are you sure you need that live wallpaper?

Figuring out what's using your battery is half the battle. It's as simple as dialing *#*#4636#*#*

You may need to uninstall apps, clear their data/cache via phone settings > applications, or adjust their settings. I was talking with another member of this site who thought he needed a new battery. He dialed the magic number and saw that his weather widget had gone haywire.

Uninstall antivirus and task killers.

I don't turn anything off. The gps is enabled at all time so it can tag my photos, I keep track of atk to see where I am at with extra apps running but my wifi is always on and gps is always running...maybe I just got lucky...

OK, well that pretty much shoots down my hypothesis. The only way to know for sure, though, is to monitor the battery. It would take about 5 minutes but I don't have a Droid 2.

Good luck!

By the way, are you sure you need ATK?

I observed this, and following the instructions from your supplied link Battery Drain due to Software Bug w/GPS? - Android Forums using spare parts discovered

The Droid 2 does
NOT
have the GPS battery drain

This is great to know, glad you mentioned this though.

Side note. The Facebook App is horrible in so many ways, I hate it. It drains your battery, as I discovered observing spare Parts. Keeping the phone running and not allowing it to sleep like it should. Not to mention when I click notifications it loads the freaking browser, and goes to my friend's full site profile. Makes me want to throw the phone, lol. With Blur integrated, the Facebook app is already less useful, and mobile site facebook seems a lot more appealing.

Here is my 2 cents on this subject. I took my phone off the charger at 7 am. Had bluetooth running all day, 2 exchange accts, 2 gmail accts, updated some app in the market, and it is almost 330 pm and still at 50% battery remaining. I am pretty happy with this. I have my battery manager set to Maximum Battery Saver Mode-Pretty much like juice defender where it shuts off data after 15 minutes of no usage. I also have my screen set to automatic brightness and to shut off after 30 seconds. Hopefully it will get a little better after the battery gets more conditioned.

I would like to add that I did turn off the social networking accts in blur. It seemed to be really draining my battery. I am going to test tweetdeck to see if it works better and less battery drain.

At 1000 pm my phone was still on 20% remaining battery life. I am going to set up Juice Defender today and see if that makes it better and will report back.

so if u change ur email delivery to say 1 hour wud that help extend battery life?

I'm sure it would def help battery life. For some, like me, we need email polling shorter than that or push email/exchange for work.
I tried setting it for an hour but i still got an email when i tested it.

AFAIK the delivery option is for pop3 only. IMAP and Exchange are different. In that case, just make sure push is on. It'll only use that extra bit of power when you actually get the message. Counter intuitive, I know, but it uses the fact that your phone is always talking to the tower anyway even in standby. Same reasoning behind you being able to receive a call or txt while in standby.

Realistically it wouldn't save you that much power anyway, even when it does poll. It turns on the 3G, sends a tiny byte to ask if anythings new, grabs the header if there is, and turns off 3G. Barely uses any power (when operating correctly).
