Is it the battery, or is it just me?

FYI:

First of all, it was not 10 hours, more like 5.
Secondly, this was at night time with no wifi enabled, phone just idled.
Thirdly, I never said this was a problem in the day time when I used apps and etc.
And finally, I don't keep my phone plugged in all night because I hear of some users having battery issues after it.

You seem to be trying to work around the problem rather than identifying if its a problem or not. Who knows? My phone could be defective. The worse thing that would happen is if I lose my charger for a day or two with a defective phone and think the battery draining in hours while idle is OK and its not.
not sure why you seem so defensive. the droid is a data-intensive device that will poll the network for varying requests. there could be a number of reasons why your battery appears to drain faster while you sleep vs. while you're awake. one of which could be just because it's struggling to find service.

fwiw, the only complaints i've seen of people with charging their phone are ones that are either using a PC to do so or are using aftermarket (non Moto) equipment.

i keep my phone on the cradle every night and sometimes go 15+ hours of heavy internet surfing, texting, phone calls, etc.

EDIT: i'm not "working around" a problem here. this is the side-effect of owning a data-intensive device. try coming from a winmo phone that wouldn't go 2hrs with normal usage.

oh ok lol. i didnt mean to be, but is it not good to leave it charging to a PC after full or something? the signal part does sound pretty accurate, that happened with my old sprint phone few months ago. i'll definitely take a look in it. thanks.

the battery/phone will take care of charge leveling. the 500ma of power fed through the USB cable isn't as effcient as the 1100ma coming from the wall charger. i always recommend using the wall over a USB port.

ah, lol. i guess i can start keeping mine on charger then. at least the batteries arent as expensive if something does mess up =p. but if they stop charging when full, im definitely gonna keep mine charged

li-ions are meant to be on the charger, unlike their nicad predecessors that didn't like it so much. think about it, most people probably leave their laptops on the charger for more of its lifespan than on battery power. it's the same principle.

yea. i always wondered why they never recommended us leave batteries charging when its full, cause i can imagine how many people leave things on the charger at night.

I generally get GREAT battery life from my Droid. It stays on the charger every night.

I recently checked at the end of a 12 hour day (phone off the charger) and I had 70% battery remaining. This is with moderate use including mostly data syncing, about an hour of Pandora streaming, a call or two, and some txt. GPS was enabled the entire time too.

However, I did experience one day when the battery went from 100% to dead (phone shut off) in about 5 hours. I determined the problem was that my accuweather widget was continuously trying to download something. I replaced it with a different weather widget and all has been well since.

Yeah, i think that may have happened to me since this is the first time it happened to me in a few nights.
