Is Motorola working on an update to fix ics battery for RAZR?

Yeah, me too! This is such a great place for that. It is the first forum I found when I got my og droid, spent about a year just reading this anbd many other forums, then finally joined because this was the forum I always ended up learning the most from.

I did basically the same thing. I lurked in the shadows for about the last year. I joined when i got my RAZR at the beginning of June. This is the only Android forum I'm a member of once in a while i check out the others, but i find this one the most informative. Plus i like the app.

ok some screenshots after 6hrs of use, let me know if anything specific is killing my battery that i can turn off.

Nothing looks alarming. Two things to check...

Play store-make sure you have that set to not auto update.

Tapatalk-if you have a lot of threads set to notify you, it can use a lot of battery.

Other than that, there is nothing that stands out. Someone else may notice something that I didn't. It is looking like we are on our way.

You are more help than you realize Josh, believe me! And we all get to keep learning along the way. I swear I learn something new on here everyday!

Ditto! What's the greatest part of this whole community IS the community. You, Josh are as much a part of it as I am, and Tis, MattyP, Bsweetness, JSM9872, Justin82, 94lt1 and all the others, whether SMods, Mods, RS (Rescue Squad), or members. And when we all combine our knowledge and analytical skills, we can solve anything. Not only that, but we all get big thrills when any one of us makes a breakthrough that results in someone's phone experience improving.

So keep up the good work! We're watching and approve! :D

ok, so vzw said they will give me the galaxy nexus, if i want, i did see some people were getting 12hrs out of the nexus with moderate to heavy use. think i should switch? hate down grading, but i need battery

I had the Nexus, and battery life sucks, but reception sucks worse. Common complaint. I wouldn't trade, unless for a Maxx.

It's really surprising to me that this situation is being fixed with conventional methods. I figured as bad as it was there had to be a rouge app or process, but it's looking so far he was just in need of a good foxkatting, and general battery saving methods.

It is surprising how much foxkatting does in making a difference and surprising that it is not included in the manual (not that I would have read it in the manual, if it was).

It can be one very small thing that will all of sudden make your battery go south. Having a battery monitor like gsam helps cuz you can see exactly what is using your battery. I had my battery suddenly go from 30 hour average to 10 or less. I could see it was amazon app store but didn't know why. It turned out that I had disabled it in juice defender which caused it to desperately try to keep connecting when it couldn't. I changed that one thing and battery went back to normal.

I wonder in this case if there may have been an app that was constantly running in the background because data/wifi was always on but changing that to turn off when screen is off also stopped the app from always running in the background.

Maybe there can be a sticky called that. Although i believe there it's a sticky about it already

I bet FoxKat will move this to the smartphone battery forum. I am surprised he hasn't yet. Lets see, FoxKat should be arriving about... now. Ok, just kidding but this would be good to have in that forum.

I just checked over there and there is an excellent sticky with many of the ideas that we went through here but no sticky on foxkatting. I think FoxKat needs to fix that... definitely needs to be a sticky.
