Is something wrong with ICS

The reason we don't have ics is simple... and a lot of other people agree. Its so Verizon can sell the crap out of the razr and maxx. I personally am not even going to bother getting a new phone. Motorola is bringing them out too fast and you'll probably go broke trying to keep up. I hear rumors about a razr HD coming out soon. So more than likely all other android devices waiting for ics will be put on the back burner yet again. If you want ics that bad install a custom rom. They are pretty stable. I'm running gummy resurrection at the moment and I love it.

. . . and just how do I put this ROM on my Bionic without losing all my data and/or bricking my phone?

Not to mention voiding our warranty.

They made a promise that they aren't keeping. I think that's reason to be upset.

You can take it back to stock and they will never know that you had a custom rom

You will loose your apps and what not if you don't back it up. If you install it correctly you won't brick your phone. Maybe instead of coping the attitude you should read up on custom roms. They do come with install instructions.

Also.. the warranty on your phone is only for a year. If you do an insurance claim Verizon is not going to care what is on your phone because you are paying the $100 for a new one.

Sure! Having tried and failed (complete brick, unrecoverable) with my wife's Bionic (I installed 20 or more ROMs on my Droid 0 without problems), I am a little leery of trying to install a ROM on my 2nd Bionic.

Have u tried fxzing the bionic i am sure its still recoverable

1. Root your device with Motofail exploit
2. Install Bionic Safestrap APK, and use to install Safestrap recovery
3. Reboot into Safestrap recovery, and make backup of stock rooted ROM
4. Switch to safe partition
5. Format system/data/cache/dalvik
6. Install ICS ROM to safe partition
7. Enjoy ICS (with slightly flaky data, as kernel will be mismatched)

Or you could drop the attitude yourself, and simply answer the question - like I did. Truthfully, if you're going to bust on the guy, at least give the proper instructions. With Safestrap, there should be absolutely no reason for him to lose data. There is always a slight chance, but if he follows the safestrap instructions there should be no issues.

Ol' Jim, some people are here to help and others seem to be here to make people feel bad. I'm one of the helpful ones. I understand why you are leery about messing with the Bionic. If I may ask, how did you totally brick your Wife's phone, though? At this point, it's pretty much possible to recovery from anything. Give me some details here and maybe I can point you in the right step toward getting her Bionic working again (assuming you still have it).

That argument will be valid once the RAZR/MAXX have an OFFICIAL (not leaked) ICS build, and the Bionic doesn't.

A custom ICS ROM on the Bionic is NOT true ICS. The kernel is the meat and potatoes of the OS, and the Bionic ICS ROMs use a stock Gingerbread kernel.

The razr hd comes stock with ICS plus the D4 has a leaked ICS since it is identical to the razr so a very easy port for ICS the bionic is a whole nother can of worms when it comes to ICS cuz the razr/maxx/HD/D4 are all identical where one ICS will work for all of them with very little alteration where the bionic u got to build from the ground up

Bionic = Red headed step child of vzw

Why is that? I recently got the bionic, moving up( or so I thought) from the DX2. I/we thought the DX2 was Moto's redheaded step child. Maybe it's Moto that just doesn't want too or doesn't have the resources to support the existing devices. Or maybe its Verizon? There's a story today in regards to ICS and it seems only Samsung has ICS on their phones

I think I'm going to stick with my original theory that ICS is flawed.
