Is the Droid 3 dead in the water ?

Hahahaha seriously? Dead in the water? Hashcode has ICS booting up and he's got the touchscreen working, lol he's working on making it usable now

Was just about to say the same thing. I stopped following droidforums.net so much after I got my D3. Reason being is because it seems like NO ONE on DF.net knows whats going on with the D3 to the least bit. We have one of THE BEST devolopers (Hashcode) working on our beloved D3 (to the ones that are informed anyway)

Fun fact, we've been able to overclock since the beginning of November but nothing ever gets posted on these forums anymore....... DF users are about 3 weeks behind or just completely clueless to whats been developing over at XDA and elseware and its been this way since the D3 came out..

Wow... I have a D3 about to arrive today and I have been a devoted follower of "DF" since I first got my OG Droid in 2010! With the awesome support and dedication that the OG had from sooo many amazing devs (AKA Pete Alfonso) I figured that the D3 would be a sweet berry ripe for the plucking... perhaps some more dedicated DF fans should take it upon themselves to make DF a good source for all things D3 root..... **** I just call myself a "devoted follower" .... HA!

OK so, currently there is a script which will allow you to "temp" Overclock your D3! the instructions are here:
[OVERCLOCK]XT860/XT862 Overclock - xda-developers

Following this threads instructions you can set your clock speed via a script which will allow your processor to run at either 1.1, 1.2, or 1.3 ghz!

However this only lasts until you either reboot or make any change whatsoever to your clock speed (via setcpu Gov's or what have you...) if you follow the suggestions of some of the comments, they give instructions for the logical steps of how to make this as permanent as possible using a simple script set to "run at boot, and run as root". In a sense this makes it a permanent OC ... however you will be forcing your processor to run at a constant overclocked speed... not necessarily an issue but it does negate the battery saving governor setups that some of us like to use...

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that the one and only Hashcode has released a very Alpha CM9 ICS build! The UI works, and that's about it…no 3g, wifi, camera, etc, but it boots, it's fun, and it looks like we should have a fully functional port very soon! :)

Don't get me wrong. I too came from a D1 and this is the site that I came to for when I was seeking knowledge. This site has, in the past, treated me very well and I was a 'supporting member' (donating). But you have to remember that the Droid 1 was in fact a developers phone and it had a unlocked bootloader which is why it had all of the supporting developers and was plentiful with roms and updates. For every motophone that has been released after the D1 we lose more and more developers.

Why would you blame them though? Who wants to hack a phone that has a locked bootloader when they can jump ship and get a better unlocked phone from another company? I guess blame Moto if anyone..

As far as the current D3 support situation and the communication issues between this site and others like XDA, I would be more than happy to 're-post' if the forum mods/admins will sticky them.

Hey guys,

TP76 encouraged me to stop by and see how the community was doing.

I'd like to say: TrentB is doing a BANG UP job keeping news flowing here.

I can't promise I'll stop by a ton as I currently check around 20 forums and actively post on about 8 + keep the blog up to date as best I can.

But, maybe DroidForums won't feel ignored :)

^^^^ This is good news for DF =]
