The phone works in India (at least in the large cities), but it is very expensive. So you can use it in an emergency.

Just to clarify - The Droid on Verizon will work in large cities in India?

I was in Bangalore last 2 years ago with a regular Verizon flip phone. I was surprised that I got reception, so I tried it out. I called my house and the call went through. When I later mentioned it to a Verizon rep he did tell me that the phones work in India and a lot of places in China.

If I had the resources to frequently make trips across foreign seas, then I could probably afford to just buy another phone for travel purposes. Possibly the euro equivalent of the Droid, the Milestone.

Just my opinion.
