You are correct no need arguing, but if you have been around you should know that when rooted and running a proper rom you no longer have to think about ota updates. The only reason I responded again was because you made the comment that you still get ota updates after root and rom. That simply is false unless you are not running a proper rom.
What is the point of a rom that simply gets overwritten and unrooted by an ota update? If that were the case everyone would be complaining and having to start over again after every ota. This makes no sense at all.....
Before you continue to argue with me check with a developer so that you don't continue to confuse other new people.
Thanks for the link... but if it isn't written properly and allows ota updates I will pass. But I did like Darkslide back on the DX, but of course then it blocked ota updates.... lol
I know i shouldnt assume because we all know hwat that leads to. I figured that most people that use these kinds of forums already have their phone rooted or were looking to root their phone... see.. thats where the assumption part comes in to play.... and then therefore my lengthy search of how bypass the OTA that I wasnt supposed to get because I was rooted and rommed.
Now for the reason of me wanting to use a themed and stripped down version of Darkslide that i had done for myself was because I was comfortable with the rom/kernel/radio combo. It worked perfectly everywhere I went.
For instance .. and I know this all has to do with the radio. And Darkslide was based off the mr1 radio (and we dont have 4g and probably never will,... ugh) anyway.. theres an hour long stretch inbetween the town i live in and the town my parents live in and not with any phone i have ever used not my blackberries nor my d1 or my d2g, but this one radio worked... not only did i get service along that stretch of highway, but also in the town where my kids live where verizon has no service (which is in the middle of BFE). and yes i have tried the mr2 mr2.5 OTA mr2 and the latest gingerbread leaked radio that was released by chingy a week ago (along with different roms)... all to no avail i have only gotten service in those dead areas with that one mr1 radio.
But like i said before i assumed and i shouldnt have that people were already rooted or wanting to root and sorry for any confusion that i set forth for new people. Sometimes you forget that people are new to this whole experience. Hell, Im still new to a lot of stuff dealing with HTC and sense. And i assumed that being rooted and using a rom i figured i was scott free on OTA's but apparently with the set up that I had I wasnt. Thanks for the reminder of not to confuse the new people.
And on a side note the reason i picked darkslide to begin with was i had put it on my friends dx and couldnt stop playing with it... i loved it and it just flowed smoothly making me feel completely comfortable with it.
Also, I give major props to all the people that develop for our phones... they put a lot of hard work into what they do. Hell I know that the one themed rom I put out for Angel on the d2g took me days to theme.. I made several others but put all that aside when i picked up my bolt at a screaming good deal that could just not be passed up.. hoping that i could just jump right in and start themeing for the bolt .. but boy was i ever wrong . luckily darkslide was ported over from the dx and was a simple theme.. not only manually but with a little help frm the UOT kitchen as well... and that is another reason i liked and wanted to keep it so much.
