Is this true? I know it's definitely true for me and a lot of my friends

I have some "geeky" friends who love their android phones. But more of my friends whom I convinced to switch to android went back to the iphone, sigh...

Survey says Android owners secretly suffer iPhone-envy

"Android owners are four times more likely to covet an iPhone than vice
versa. Specifically, a third of Android owners polled admitted to suffering
severe iPhone-envy, whilst just seven per cent of iPhone users said that
they’d prefer an Android-powered smartphone."

Well I can see it being at least true to some extent. All the comparisons I read before getting the D1 (yes, I thought I wanted an iPhone) included that the iPhone was "dummied" down for your first time smart phone user. That it was that easier to use as a newbie.
So it stands to reason that that many people not previously educated in the use of the android phone, or can't quite handle the OS, will probably go back.

Owned all but the iPhone4...Android just fits me better! I'll never go back to iPhone!!

never had an iphone nor did i ever wanted one. sticking with android os. IF android goes away i would rather get a jitter bug. LOL no apple products for this boy, the only apples in my house are the ones in my frig. ;)

Android smartphones have power, aesthetics, variety, functionality and jam-packed updates along with an open and innovative platform and an active community. Rooting breaks the limits of Android.

The iPhone 4 has aesthetics and some power along with somewhat minor updates, an App Store and an active community. Jailbreaking...is like breaking out of Alcatraz; you're out of jail but you can't get off the island.

'Nuff said.

My son, the Iphone addict, was waiting in the airport for a delayed flight. He didn't want to talk to me for long because his iPhone's battery was running low and no place to charge it. I thought "Why don't you carry a spare battery for occasions like this and swap it? That's what I do with my Droid." Oh, yeah, it's the iPhone. How many times have you had to use your iPhone while plugged in to the charger?

So it’s official then. Android is the poor person’s iPhone.

Riiight, that's why I use Ubuntu instead of Windows, too. It has nothing to do with openness, customization, freedom, etc. It's just because I'm *sob* too poor to afford a Windows license.

If popularity is equivalent to quality, then Budweiser and McDonalds are the best beer and food on the planet, respectively.

You just answered your own question. I don't see anywhere where it says "All Android users secretly covet the iPhone".

It amazes me how often people on forums seem to equate popularity to other things. "What device should I buy?" threads seem to tend to fixate on popularity rather than best fit for the OP as well...

I have no envy, after all these are only phones. Would I consider the iphone if it were available to me, of course. I will consider all of my options. My moto droid was my first smartphone, but I have learned alot about my needs as it pertains to handheld devices beyond what is listed on a spec sheet. I will go after the best product available for me that is within my means. If it's an iphone then bring it on. If I were upgrading today it would not be an iphone.

+droid+

1.The battery issue is huge for me, i have two extra batteries for my D1 and love being able to just swap them when needed instead of having to be plugged into a charger.

2. AT&T sucks! I have tethered my brothers iphone so many times, mostly just to give him data service, a few times he needed data just to make a call with his "talk to me?" app because he didn't have service at all while i was rocking out with full 3G service! dancedroid

okay well I just lsot 3G again.. And after a lot of cursing, iGot to thinking, perhaps an app is screwing up the 3G signal, I mean I never had a problem in the 5 minutes before I started installing apps when I got my droid...... Just a thought, I'm gonna test it out, and hey maybe the root did something?

To all his own. The only thing I could say that is different from iphone and droids are that the apps are endorsed by apple making things more legitimate for users who want nothing but quality as for Droid and it's community based apps which are consumers who love the fact that we are able to have the the phone evolve than to be set into a standard. I do prefer Droid though. Its a big party.

8pened!
