Is Verizon the only carrier....

You're lucky. I bet at 90% availability of 4G a lot of the negative threads would disappear and any that are loudly complaining w/ 90% are being a wee bit unrealistic. I can ride it out because I use my phone at home and work for data, and I have WiFi available at both locations. Data was down for most of yesterday and the day before and it's the 3rd complete/extended outage in my area this month. If it were not for WiFi, I'd have been screwed. Let's hope that we will all soon experience the level of service that you have!!

Did you try switching to CDMA only mode?? Because although my phone wouldn't connect to either 3G or 4G in CDMA/LTE, it connected to 3G just fine when switched to CDMA only. Why does that work? God only knows, I don't understand it. But it does work, at least for me.

Now the outages in the last month, lets say in any given month there are 3-4 days of COMPLETE outage on 4G, like this month for example. Even given that scenario, that still means 85-90% of the month it is working. Now taking into account the 1 day that I couldn't connect to any data in the last month, that's some kind of data coverage around 97% of the time.

I'm pretty satisfied with that.

Yeah -- tried setting to CDMA mode only, but still have the 3G icon disappear frequently and have to airplane mode cycle.

I think most us would be satisfied with your numbers. Unfortunatley -- my and seemingly other folks issues are related to any kind of data -- 3G or 4G. Today is a good day, however.

I know that you have already said this, but hang in there. With every one of these outages, coverage is most likely expanding somewhere.

I think 4G will be reliable in most markets by June or July. It already is reliable in many markets.

1. The price I paid for 3G service is exactly the same as I pay now that i'm getting 4G.
2. You can switch carriers and complain about their 4G, oh wait, you can't really as no one else has a market near the size of Verizon.
3. I'll take the few outages i've experienced over the daily outage that is ATT 's normal service, or over the super awesome 122kbps service I averaged with Sprint's 3G.

That being said, anyone talking of jumping ship over it must be in a much better area then I am for the other service providers. But on the flip side, I PAY for data service that I can use anytime. If Verizon can't deliver on that, I feel they owe me that money back. I called, complained, and got a months data cost back. I'm happy with the outcome.
