ive finally had enough and called VZW

Razr Maxx delivered today. No sd card so i called 611. They called my local store and had a 32gb held for me...$0
When i picked it up, i also bought a lapdock100 for $49.97.

I am 100% satisfied so far.

0 data drops
Battery dropped about 15% since 11am. I wouldve had to charge the Nexus by now without a doubt.

Having the nexus and other devices i have drawn this conclusion. If you love in a fringe lte area or are in between towers a device with weaker radios will show it self. When i am in a strong lte area the nexus is a beast but when i am in a weak area or in between towers my nexus sucks and i have one of the good radios. Here is another thing if you are in a weak area don't go s3 you could have the same problem. Recommend testing a buddies s3 in that area first. If you are in a weak area you may want to invest in motorola.

If I could have a Maxx build quality/battery/reception with a Nexus software I'd be ecstatic.

Right now, I am very very satisfied with the Maxx. Not one data drop (constant LTE), calls are crystal clear and 1 charge from 11am to 7am with heavy 'new phone tinkering'. 32gb SD card installed and Otterbox commuter to be delivered later today.

All is good.

Sounds exactly like my Nexus! Crazy how big of a swing the qc was from phone to phone. Mine has been perfect and some have been unusable..

Just got 4G at my school today and I haven't dropped it once. The JB radios are incredible. I was determined it was a hardware fault, but the updated radios may just have proved it was, in fact, software. And this phone (on previous radios) would drop 4G connection about twice an hour. Not a single hiccup. All day. DancingNexus

I've had the same result with all of the radios going back to 402. I've only flashed new ones for the heck of it!

You were lucky then. This was my 5th replacement and it was the best I'd had (except for my release day Nexus which inexplicably lost all ability to send sms one day) and just dealt with it. Glad I held out. Development + reliable connection = love

OP was able to take steps to attempt to resolve the problem. Many casual users would not have been able to try to help themselves.

Long time customer (10 years) never any real problems to speak of. Among other phones, had the OG Droid, DroidX and now the GNex. I bought the Nexus on launch day with great anticipation and expectations of the LTE speeds. Almost immediately, the data drops began but after reading, I hoped that the problems stemmed from network problems and not hardware.

I waited for updates and simply stopped using LTE because my phone, while it had a strong signal, it simply will not maintain that connection. Yesterday, I received numerous text messages asking why I wasn't answering the phone. It never rang....

I finally called VZW and spoke with 3 different reps (at their doing, not my request). After informing then that I have updated the software and PRL correctly along with a factory reset, the problem has only worsened

They opened a trouble ticket and also said "I see you had many devices. This must be an inconvenience" to which I agreed but stopped short of requesting an alternative device. I figure I'll let them offer (hopefully) and then expect a debate when they try to offer me a rezound or razr.

Anyone know what I should expect?
Try for the S3.Sounds like you could get it no questions asked.

I'm done with my GN too. Had one from day one release and it worked flawless until a week or two ago and the charging port started to fail. They sent a clnr which has funky radios in it. They also got my old one and said because of two dings in the corners of the top of the phone I will be billed $299. What a serious load of garbage. Its on a business account too and they are getting an earful call Monday and I am demanding they take this clnr back and keep the old phone and not charge me a dime. I am going back to Motorola.

I've had some issues with my GN as well and lately the biggest one is that the phone will display 1-3 bars of signal strength and the 3g icon will be on but they are all greyed out, with no connection. Happens frequiently and has happened since I got the phone but it's getting worse. I don't really like the idea of rooting because when I rooted my original droid it just kept getting slower and slower over time until it was virtually unusable and then verizon pushed some update and so the phone would constantly have a reminder in the notification bar to take an update that I couldn't take because I was rooting and running some leaked version of android. It sucked and made me not want to use my phone for the last 3 months before I got my Nexus. I don't want to end up in the same situation again with this phone, which asside from the data issues has been awesome.
