I've tried, but no more Bionic

No matter what device you choose, all are NOT perfect. I chose bionic over samsung for build quality, and over HTC because of battery issues and build quality. Got it in the beginning, still have it, and still love it. Great build, good battery life, super fast, very powerful.

My wife is getting the Droid 4 next week. Depending on how her experience goes with it, I may do the same. 901 has not improved the data drops, but it has improved how quickly the Bionic regains data.

Compared to the first week with the Bionic (no 3g OR 4g coverage!), it is much improved.

I have a love/hate relationship with my Bionic. When it works, it works great, when it doesn't, it's just a phone. I'm tempted to trade for the rezound. After the last update helped right away, it started dropping data again. I am hoping the next update fixes everything.

No release will fix everything - they never do. They will fix some problems, ignore/defer others, and will inevitably introduce new ones. The tower issues will improve over time. As new releases come out and as service improves, our increasing expectations will fool our minds into sensationalizing trivial issues into showstoppers because the human mind revels in challenge and conflict.

Haven't seen much of Razr....HAVE heard from a couple people that underneath, it's essentially a Bionic?

Motor makes great phones they just made way to many in 2011 if they put time into the Bionic it would have been great.

My Bionic is bone stock, while my son's is rooted - though otherwise stock. No show stoppers here. Though we've had the black screen of death and 3g/4g confusion, this is still an excellent phone, at least the way we use them and where we use them. We do have LTE here. I realize others may have different situations, and may have had bad phones - but a lot comes down to expectations. I've been in the computer industry for 35+ years and realize that to have non-boring technology means that there will be issues. By the time all of the issues are worked out, it's just boring outdated crap. If anyone remembers the Treo debacle, patches were slooooow in coming, bricked phones, and by the time they got out a working patch (which never seemed to address the most glaring issues) the Treo was being replaced with the Centro, and it went the same way. Compared to the Treo/Centro we have it pretty good. I believe that many of the issues are the tower firmware, not the phone - and there have been reports of vast improvements in some regions.

My main problem is the complete lack of support for this issues, no words or updates. I do not expect everything to work, but do expect moto to care. We have seen several press releases from vzw telling us what they are doing. We got one update from moto, months late. Now several months later still nothing. I do not count leaks or mistakes that is not a way to run a company. Moto just do something is all I ask. I would have no customers if I treated them that way.

I'm not defending or bashing Moto but like most big players Moto could care less what the end user wants ,(they do care) all they care about at the end of the day are numbers and if they need more phones out to get them then so be it. Just sayin

There are plenty of people here who love the phone. The biggest issue here is Verizon LTE network coupled with a bad software version which is supposedly going to be fixed by next quarter. Honestly, i bought my phone to function primarily as a phone. Any other feature is periphery.

I wish it was that easy for me... I've finally given up and started putting some money together to pay full price on something by April if nothing here changes... my bionic functions just fine as a piece of crap bloat phone only using one side of a dual core processor... but that's not why I got it … I got because Motorola made a statement about unlocking bootloaders by the end of the year.... feel like a sucker... won't happen again

Dude.....I think you got yourself a little worked up about something like a locked bootloader. To hate your phone for something like that is a little irrational don't you think? My phone has the bloat on it and I really dont notice it......I certainly wouldn't get myself upset because it is there. My phone does what I want it to do and really in the end isn't that all that matters?

I guess my point is I am not quite sure why people get so outraged about these two subjects and maybe you could shed some light on it ....not generically but really what is the crux of the issue with it

I can understand the bloat issue, I have had the same issue when it comes to my computers and have always stripped them down quite easily. I suspect others have the same underlying history lol. Installing a visual task manager prior to rooting put my ocd on overload and I was destroying my battery constantly killing the bloat. After paying better attention, I noticed that although they were on standby in the background, little ram and no cpu were being used for most.

Once rooted and Tibu'd I was able to freeze bloat and now I'm happy with my Bionic other than the occasional data drop.

Yeah a depressing thread indeed. I'm on .893 and honestly have not been having any issues. My area last week got 4G and honestly it doesn't have a problem going out of 3G and 4G back and fourth. I had the Nexus and that phone was a POS so after that I believe my statement is the opposite, ill never buy anything again but a Moto....

And people whining about the bloat, yeah it sucks but installing something like go launcher u can hide all that bloat and junk **** u don't need, put it in the do not run list and u never know its there. I had a Nexus and my Moto LOOKS just as clean as it did.

Wow! What a depressing thread! My bionic runs great on 901. I honestly would not trade it for any other phone out right now. To each his own I guess.

I'm with you Bionic running .901 no issues and no data drops even when on .893 so standing strong and staying with Bionic !

This is one of the big problems, Moto did not give you .901 in fact they would love to take it away. Why should we have to resort to changing software on our own when Moto and VZW should be getting that new software out to us. Samsung fixed some of thier issues in just 2 weeks other have done very quick updates when a problem is found, where is our offical update.
