[KERNEL] Kernel (deprimed_test) - Break It If You Can

prime
glad to hear 2 things.
First, really happy you are healing and that your daughter is pretty much fully mended.
Second, in this day and age it's good to hear you're much older than your daughter. I mean, things are crazy these days. You got kids having kids! Damn, i really am getting old. 38 come halloween.

I see prayer has been covered, which is good since i just used up all mine on the lions win tonight.

But i can always recommend another succor that might ease pain and definitely reduces any swelling and inflammation.
Plus you won't need to take an additional pharmaceuticals to deal with the "normal?" side effects that are the ruse de guerre of big pharma. And then another for the side effects from the second, which is addressing the side effects of the first. I feel like i'm talking about those russian nesting dolls.

In college i was pre-something, doesn't matter as watching the renowned documentary animal house taught me they're all the same; so i would only advise staying away from the firm dewey, cheatum & howe attorneys at law, if they send a letter.

Yes he (danceswithbongs) is very entertaining, a breath of fresh bong smoke if you will. :-)

Prime,
It's good to hear you are doing well after all of these unfortunate happenings in your life.

Am I to understand that Deprimed test #20 (Kernel reports #1) - (4/29/2011) is the latest version, or will clicking the link in your sig/ using update_deprimed get me something newer than 4/2011?

Thanks

See the story goes like this, while waiting for my home insurance company to pay I got rather down on my luck and had to sell my XPS development laptop...I DoD wiped everything off the hard drive out of anger being I could not find the cord to my 1.5 TB backup drive. The only PC I currently own is a Zino HD which is simply not up to the task, I will be moving this month and simply have not had the time or resources to replace my laptop and git my code back. Soon I will release an update, hopefully there will still be a need for a good D1 kernel.

The kernel you asked about is the latest available.

As much as I would love to get a new phone, I will probably be needing a good Droid kernel for a long time to come. As far as I can tell, yours is the best.

I've been running the de-Primed kernel for a while and I wonder if the Primed kernel (and various tweak scripts) could help my old Droid become more robust with CM7 on it. I've tried lots of little tweaks here and there and still the thing locks up once in a while.
Up until now I've been too lazy to inform myself about the Primed kernel options.

What governor are you using?

What governor are you using?
SetCPU
I have the profiles set up in a similar fashion to what's described in the old OverClock 101 thread.
edit:
here's the actual-
nominal- max 900MHz min 250 - on demand
priority 100 screen off- 700/250 - conservative
90 temp>53C- 550/250 - ondemand
80 CPU>55C - 550/250 - on demand
70 charging - 800/250 - on demand
50 battery<5% - 550/250 - on demand
I used to run ChevyNo1's 1GHzLV kernel, but then came to yours and haven't tried for anything 'custom' with it- just vanilla deprimed.
Is there a tutorial around?
I think I'd like to try bumping up the OC speed a little.

Ah- google got me this how to
Prime's Deprimed Test Kernel: How to - CyanogenMod Forum
just started reading...

...edit...
I recall your preference for the bumblebee governor, Prime. I tried it a while ago, but can't remember much about my configuration at the time. I was frustrated by it then, though, and that's what prompted the return to ondemand.
Re-trying it out now for the nominal profile and it seems ok- can't judge accurately by feel if it's plus or minus, just that it works. So, I'll stay on it for a while and see how it goes.
Meanwhile, I'm a bit confused regarding the custom setting of slot freqs and vsels. The how to I linked discusses in-depth the manual method of editing the slots for testing and solidifying the best results into the 20overclock file.
Ok- I'd give it a go, but terminal entry is a bit daunting for me, so I started reading about the work done with Milestone Overclock app and how easy the app makes the process. The trouble is there seems to be a variety of versions of the app (some with your hand involved, Prime) and the posts are so old as to cause concern over what is the current 'best solution'.
This tutorial for the app is causing my concerns-

I'm not really interested in getting the most speed or least cpu voltage out of my Droid, just getting it so it doesn't crap out in times of need (incoming call or text, for example) while running the latest winner00 CM7 builds (which actually are a bit more stable than before). Towards this end, I'd most likely run numbers similar to averages of those in this thread-
http://code.google.com/p/milestone-overclock/wiki/KernelModule

I could go into detail on other aspects of my Droids current configuration, if the info would be of value to this discussion, just ask.

Thanks very much for reading along- I appreciate your input greatly. I know at this time your attentions are best spent with your family and I wish you the best with the recovery.

Hey Phonetool-

I use Prime's Deprimed(previous) kernel, though I dont use the "overclock, primed, deprimed" commands. After installing a new Rom, I just drop a consolidated startup script in the init.d folder that contains the data from the 20overclock file.

I do not use SetCpu anymore (big footprint), I simply set it in CM7 to use "On Demand" governor.

The "stable" column of the table you linked to is a good starting point.

I run the following:

300/26
450/32
600/36
700/42
800/48
900/56
1000/62

This seems to work for me, and are the values I've used for several months now. I stopped trying to get every milli-volt out of my battery a while back, and a min-300 wakes my phone up quickly.

CM7 and the OG Droid have treated me well so far. I dont seem to have any deal-breaking issues, and it is stable for me.

Zram/Compcache get laggy for me too quickly, so I use a swap partion (with its own set of issues).

I have some "maintenance" scripts i run occasionally from Script Manager ie. a swap reset script, as well as scripts for changing the top-slot cpu speed/vsel. I boost it to 1200/78 to run titanium backup, fix permissions and other such stuff, then drop the top slot back down to 1000/62 when i'm done. Script manager is great... I have widgets to change my cpu slots...

This is how *I* do it... and it works well for me. If you need further explanation on how or why. I can try to help.

Hey thanks! I would definitely like to try your strategy. This weekend is very hectic for me, but next week I will contact you.
