Largest Movie File Size that can be transferred?

Hi all, I am trying out rockplayer video player and like that it supports mkv files.

However, after converting a regular dvd using makemkv to a mkv file, I usually get a file that is about 6gigs. When I try and transfer the file to the droid it says file too big.

Is there a way around this? I dont want to have to convert a file to a smaller size and just want to leave the mkv file as is for times sake.

Use a sdcard adapter and transfer it directly to the card.

Be aware that when you insert a default SD card in your phone it will be a FAT 32 file format. That means that it won't be able to handle any video or audio that is larger than 4 GIG at a time.

6GB what? regular dvd, should be blue ray minumum. but why?
should rip it to less than 1gb and your good to go. 750 mb files look amazing on the droid.

The memorycard is formatted as fat32, which is limited to 2GB or 4GB (depending on the operating system used to format the card) as a maximum filesize. The drive you are using in your computer to create your files is most likely formatted as NTFS.


I doubt that the Droid will be able to read NTFS-formatted cards, or if the datarate that it can handle would actually be capable of playback of your MKV's though.
