Launcher Pro Hijacked My Phone

if you had auto update on then you would never see this issue, it was only guys who did not have auto update set & ignored the notification to update...

Did you try double-tapping the home key to pull up voice command?

If that doesn't work, and LauncherPro launches the browser, type this in the address bar of the browser:

bubiloop.com/download/org.adw.launcher

That will launch the Android Market (specifically ADW Launcher's entry in the market). From there you can navigate to your downloaded applications and remove LP.

This should work.

Thank you so much for this, it worked like a charm. It really would have sucked to lose all my phones data to get rid of launcher pro, which was a great program until this problem.:icon_ banana:

I think the real lesson to be learned from all this is for Google. There should be an equivalent to control + alt + delete for Android. Maybe holding down the Home key for five seconds or something, to bring up a list of running processes to suspend or terminate, uninstall apps, and give access to Settings. Think about it Google...

+1

I didn't have this issue, but it would be nice to have a basic feature like that.

just went through this debacle on my wife's phone, had a heck of a time wresting it from LP's grip. None of the solutions described in this thread would work. Voice commands locked up in some sort of loop, the home screen locked into a loop trying to create LP shortcuts, I couldn't access the URL bar in the browser. Finally powered off the phone and was able to use the home switcher shortcut before the loops locked me out again. Somehow got the original home program selected in time.

Once it was back in my control, I went to the market to delete/uninstall LP. Wasn't there. Home Switcher still showed it as the default though. Couldn't find it anywhere to uninstall it. Finally located it in the manage applications tab, and it seems to have let me uninstall it from there.

Glad it's gone, no way I'm trying that one again. Hope ADW proves to be safer.
Thought I'd mention it here since none of the other procedures worked for me.
