Left handed

...My thumbs do most of the navigating, not index fingers, however.

Wow. How do you do that?

I'm almost more curious as to how you don't...

I don't do it like him but I still use my thumbs for touching the screen... index finger is just weird...

Landscape: Droid between right ring finger and right thumb, touch with left index finger.

Portrait: Droid in right palm, touch with left index.

Note that I almost never use the slide-out keyboard. When I do, I use an awkward two-handed method that doesn't work very well.

I am hoping Chris.nelson is being sarcastic because I see many people hold it that way, unless you are 5. I have a bulky case and do not have a problem using one hand.

ok in landscape we hold it similar, just slide your upper fingers (non-pinky) more towards the back of the phone and your thumb will be able to reach.

Can't really explain potrait, but it's kinda the same.

My issue with left-handed is that when I hold landscape style my rt hand is on the back navigation which closes the window in new contact or a message--then I have to begin as it is dropped. The system should let me return to where I was in the process, to finish and complete with Done.

Here is the problem people, I have a small hand and I am a leftie. If you are holding the phone in your left hand your have to use your thumb to swipe from left to right to unlock the phone which is awkward to do and often I have to double swipe. The alphabet is on the right on the phone list making me have to reach across the screen to go through the index making picking the correct letter harder to do and it is harder to scroll it is harder to keep the thumb going vertically on the edge of the screen because the thumb naturally curves back towards the hand as you are swiping because of the range of motion is limited with an extended thumb. This causes inadvertent phone calls to the wrong person as the thumb moves away from the right side of the screen and onto the wrong person. In the recent calls list, the callback symbol is on the right, again have to reach across the screen.

I've never had that problem. Try using "I" instead of "you".

Not being an ass but I legitimately don't understand how this is an issue. This would be akin to righties having difficulty using the sound toggle. The only nag I've found is that the power button is ever-so-slightly more difficult to trip for a lefty, and barely worth mentioning. I guess I could see the alphabet thing, but I doubt too many people find it to be a real issue, and besides that while it may not be quite as easy to see the individual contact name directly underneath your thumb, you can see the letter indicator on the right side of the screen far better than a righty, no?

If it really is an issue for you look into creating a custom theme that inverts those menus that you find to be problematic.

And just to add, if you use Widget Locker to change your unlock screen there are left-handed sliders, or at least some whose functions can be adapted for 'left-centric' use.
