LG Stuns With the Most Powerful Smartphone on the Planet: the LG Optimus G

No jelly bean?
And we'll see how long the battery lasts.
I am guessing by the way it looks, that the battery won't be removable. That would be a bummer.

And every cell phone is rectangular with rounded corners.
I didn't think iPhone when I saw it.
  • No physical button
  • Much bigger screen
Just like all cars, tv's, land line phones, dishwashers, dryers, chairs, steps, light bulbs, watches, shoes, pants, glasses, toothbrushes, stereos, guitars, drums, motorcycles, ceiling fans, all look VERY similar...all smart phones are going to look similar.

In short... Apple = Douchebags

Would be great to have a commercial with him holding the Optimus and saying that to an iPhone :p

Maybe with an empty iPhone case next to him.

"I know your specs aren't there, and what you do now, isn't as great as it was 4 yrs ago."

Slick but looks like an iPhone

I agree with the rest of the fans here when I say - Awesome specs, I bet this thing is a monster and it's probably ridiculous fast and efficient.

On the other hand, it looks like the iPhone and is probably as fragile which means you'll need an Otterbox case to protect the phone. Also, does the back come off or is it so much like the iPhone that you can't replace the battery and you're stuck with crappy battery life?

To me it seems that in order to run a quad-processor you'd need to have a larger battery otherwise your talk time/play time is limited to about 3 hrs. I guess for some it doesn't matter but I wouldn't want to have to keep my phone plugged in every time I want to use it.

All in all, I would buy it, I am up for a new phone in Feb/March next year so if it's out, I will be on the LG bandwagon all the way.

Geez. I might have to get one and give Wifey the Razr Maxx. No way I'm upgrading and loosing my unlimited, so it'd be pricey...

I have to admit...I didnt really read the OP. I just saw the features of this phones posted somewhere else....

Just coming back to put my bid on as an LG fan now.....sorry Moto.. I still plan on getting the Maxx HD. But this LG phone will be on my family plan ...asap. Barring any showstopping problems. I did complain about the length n width of the GS3. ... I might have to just accept it with this phone...lol.

The point of optimized dual and quad core processors is actually to streamline operation and reduce battery consumption, hence why the Galaxy S3 has managed such good battery life in both the U.S. and international configurations. I almost wish they had made the Optimus G slightly thicker to accommodate a larger cell, but perhaps they've really squeezed maximum efficiency out of it and get the kind of life that would normally require a much larger battery.

why get a phone with a 3 or 4 core processor ? how many things could you do with a smart phone at one time?

It's not just about doing multiple things at the same time, but about doing one thing 3-4 times faster.

That isn't how extra cores work. Multiple cores allow you to do more at the same time, unless the program or app has been written specifically to use multi threads, even then it doesn't make it 3 or 4 times faster.

Hadn't seen this hands-on vid posted yet. Definitely some pretty cool features.
