Liberty 1.5 takes over my phone?

Well a factory reset always leaves you on the same Rom so that explains that. I would like to hear from jrummy but I think its not nearly as malicious as it appears.

You are joking right? My phone is is extremely important to me and I need for it to be as reliable as possible. I started romming becaust I hated Blur and the crazy things it did to my phone. If this is a problem caused by Liberty and its dev's it will prove to be disasterous to their reputations. I am already sbf'ing back to stock for now.

Agreed...I will be extremely disappointed in Jrummy if this turns out to be his work. This is not how the Android community should be run. I'm glad I'm on ApeX.

"its not nearly as malicious as it appears"

I was without my phone for over half an hour.

I've said it several times already. This likely relates to someone modifying their work and passing it off as their own. Does it suck that its affecting everyday users? Yeah it certainly does. But its not like it was placed there to do so. Jrummy is a talented respectable developer and if he indeed wrote that line of code, I firmly believe this is not what he intended it to do.

It wasn't just a line.....it was a whole script. I am hoping this wasn't him too. However JRummy has been known to get jealous when others improve on his work...

Yea I agree I was freaking out a bit there and god forbid if anyone happened to have an emergency at the time, who knows what could have happened. I don't know why they would even put something like that in there. I don't really care if it was meant maliciously or not, but it was definitely a wake up call for me. I mean we trust these devs enough to basically hand over our phones to them and it doesn't take much to scare away those, like myself, who might have used it. I love the rom, now I'm not so sure

So more complete instructions I will post for everyone (THIS SHOULD FIX IT BUT I AM NOT NEARLY AT THE LEVEL JRUMMY AND KEJAR ARE AT SO I COULD BE WRONG!)
Two things, you need to pull your sd card to start with, then reboot, stops the hijacking of the phone. Then if you have root explorer installed go to
/system/lib mount it as R/W and delete libgnakfoorp.so
(If you have a micro card reader get into the following file /liberty/downloads/ and delete the test script)
Otherwise put the sd card in and switch to USB mass storage mode
plug it into your computer and get into that file and delete it....
reboot one more time for good measure and you should be all fixed.

If you do not have Root explorer, same thing with pulling the SD card
Boot up, get into the Terminal type this in (hit enter to move to the next line)
su
mv /system/lib/libgnakfoorp.so /libgnakfoorp.so
Now shutdown the phone, replace the sd card
(If you have a micro card reader get into the following file /liberty/downloads/ and delete the test script before replacing it)
once booted go back to the terminal (don't plug in the phone yet)
su
mv /libgnakfoorp.so /mnt/sdcard/libgnakfoorp.so
close the terminal and plug in the phone and go to USB mass storage
go to the drive and delete libgnakfoorp.so from the main card directory, then go to /liberty/downloads/ and delete the test file

Fixed it for me waiting for a response on xda from kejar if he knows what/why this happened to everyone?

Yeah fcuk all this, I'm switching roms. How could it not be the developer's work? Its his goddam rom and PLENTY of people are reporting this problem. Switch now before your phone effs up when you need it.

Looks like it may be a problem that occurs when restoring a Liberty 1.5 backup coming from ApeX. Still waiting to see how this all pans out...

When this occured on my phone. I just enabled the left hand use in the settings. Restarted the phone and bam. Never used another rom before. Been rooted for only a few days.

Yeah I was on Liberty 1.0 before DID NOT WIPE before upgrading to 1.5 the day it came out, seems that we are suffering a hijack because of a missing file check to see if it there own work and not someone else ripping their stuff off... this file was pushed to the download folder on the sd card recently... the only other thing was I changed the theme...

hate to hear this. But please dont let it turn you away from the whole "rooting" thing. Poor judgment on the devs part, agreed. but this is the first time this sort of thing has popped up. And odds are the last.

I wont be turned off from rooting for the time being. I am going to try apex and see how i like that. Once more news come available about this problem.... i may or may not come back to liberty

I did not restore a liberty 1.5 back up and have not done any customizations to this rom other than download themes and fonts from the toolbox!

Forgot to mention..I ALWAYS do a complete wipe and factory reset when installing a new rom...even if it was just from 1.0

I also came from a complete factory reset and wipe. I was running GummyRom before this.

here it is again if not

Edit: added the following:

Thanks to jangle for this fix.

I posted specific instructions which someone partially copies here, no scripting on your part required.
