Flash That ROM
dancedroidI am by no means an expert. In fact I had my OD for 7 months before I even rooted it.But once I rooted and flashed my 1st ROM, I was hooked.
I now have a rooted Droid X running Liberty 1.5 and Linear. I have tried probably 90% of the ROM's out there for the OD and the DroidX (and all of the major players), and Liberty is the fastest most stable ROM I have ever used.
I have zero programming experience, but with the help of this forum community, I have pretty much been able to do anything I wanted to with both my Android phones.
Yes I have SBF'd my DroidX, but it was more to see if I could figure it out than it was out of necessity.
You are already rooted. You're already 90% there, it is very easy to safely flash a ROM. just keep a few things in mind:
MAKE A BACKUP:Use either ROM Manager to do this or reboot into ClockworkMod recovery, and make a Nandroid backup.
INSTALL TITANIUM BACKUP-If you don't already have this BUY IT NOW. This is your lifeline for getting apps and system data back in place after you flash a ROM. And spring for the $6 PRO version, otherwise when you restore, you will have to manually add in all the apps as you restore. With the PRO version, you just push a button and everything restores automatically
EVERY PHONE BEHAVES DIFFERENTLY:Just because your phone plays really nice with one ROM doesn't mean the next guy doesn't have problems with it. This was notoriously true on my OD. My OD worked very well on Lithium Mod, Sapphire and CyanogenMod. But it was unbelievably awful on the Bugless Beast. Now I believe BB to be a very good ROM, it just didn't play nice with my OD.Having said that, my Droid X has had far fewer problems than the OD and it is really very easy to flash once you are rooted.
Get Koush's Droid X Bootstrapper',boot into recovery, erase cache, wipe data, install the zip file for the ROM ,reboot, and you are done.Once you are back into the phone with the new ROM,set up gmail, download Titanium and restore your apps from there. In 15 minutes you should have your phone set up like you want it.
Remember your back upIf anything ever goes wrong just flash your backup and you are right back where you started.
As for Liberty, like I said Liberty, on my phone, is excellent. It is incredibly fast and VERY stable. But you may find a different ROM that works better for you. That is part of the fun of flashing custom Rom's
