1. How can I lock the screen?

2. After it goes to sleep, is the only way to wake it by opening the keyboard slider?

if your talking about when you push the button the on n off button it the screen goes blank but if you push it a second time it will turn back on in lock mode hope that helps

1. An app called AutoLock lets you configure the time delay for the lock screen seperately. It also comes with a "shortcut" you can add to your desktop that will lock the phone immediately. It's under "shortcuts" though, not widgets.
