lost message shortcut on bottom bar

Hello. i used to have constantly on the bottom bar: 'phone' 'contacts' 'message' and 'menu'. this was good. now however, the 'message' button has disappeared and i have know idea how to get it back?
does anyone know what happened?

i figured it out myself! Simply when i opened the menu i hit edit then just dragged the shortcut into the bottom bar and voila!
