MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

Yes, if you stay on .215, you should not get the update...but that is not 100% definite yet (will be soon though). There was discussion that you would be on the upgrade path but that was because there was expectation that the .215 would be an official OTA. That never happened so highly doubtful you are on the update path.

Yeah,
I think I'm going to hold off until some of the bugs are worked out. ICS .215 is not perfect by a long shot but it, is predictable. I truly hated giving up / losing Ginger Bread and buying into all of the hype and then the disappointment of ICS. I am very hesitant of JB because of the issues some are experiencing. So, I think for now, I'll just sit on the sideline and see what happens next.

Can some one point the slow girl in the right direction please? I've received notification of the OTA update; however since I'm already running 4.1.2 by following instructions from this forum, it my guess that I'll need to get back to 211. Is this correct? I would also like to keep root. Are there step by step directions that I'm missing or do I do this the same as last time. Thanks!

ETA: Wow. Feel free to ignore. All I needed to do was use rootkeeper and then let the OTA rip. All back up and running perfectly. Woohoo!

Require some help and advise

I installed the .215 leak as I lost audio over BT in my car when my phone went from GB to ICS, this did not help. Under system I see the .215 and under OS it still reflects 404. My wife and I bought our phone on the same day and see received JB two days prior and I have not. Do I have to remove the .215 to get JB? If so how?

Thank you!

I found my answer in a prior post and downloaded 1.82 and went through the instructions. When I boot up and chose AP Fastmode it tells me the device is LOCKED. Not sure where to go from here HELP:hail:

Oh gee, helron... thanks for your vode of confidence, lol! I know what you mean though... I'm a break it down, give me the steps in small doses and I should succeed so I write my posts in the same way. MattyP is great with the step by steps too. That is exactly how I first got root on my Maxx.

I am going to wait for the official OTA because I think it is right around the corner. I don't know how many times I went with a leak that was expected to be the OTA, only for the OTA to change. And because I always do an fdr with any os change, it is more work (for me) than just installing the leak or OTA.

The following steps to get back to stock are very easy and fast, so you can do it now and wait for the OTA or go with the leak... or you can wait for the OTA and return to stock, then OTA in one quick swoop.

Going back to stock .211:
*On your pc, download and install Matt's Razr Utility 1.8 or 1.81 or 1.82. You can find 1.82 here:
Droid Razr Utility 1.82 [Windows] For Verizon Droid Razr And Droid Razr Maxx Only - DroidRzr.com
*Extract that utility to its own folder on your computer...you must extract the file on your pc. It will not work from your phone.
*After the utility is extracted, go to the Motorola drivers folder in the utility and make sure you have the latest Motorola drivers installed on your pc.
*make sure your phone is set to usb debugging mode (menu>system setting>developer options).
*Power your phone off. Then power your phone on while holding down your power, the volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously.
*Connect your phone to your computer with the factory supplied usb cable.
*On your phone select AP Fastboot, then in the utility select option 1..."restore phone to stock .211. Do not unplug the usb cable until the utility finishes.
*When completed your phone should reboot to stock .211.
*After running option 1, restart phone to make sure all is fine.

Is this what you used to revert back to .211? Two important things to check is that USB debugging and unknown sources is checked. The other thing is make sure you have only one version on your SD ext card and it is the .211 version. No need to download the Christmas leak as the ota should come through once you are back to bone stock .211.

Definitely recommended. The link I posted above has some good suggestions on what to use to back things up. also in the instructions make sure unknown sources is checked. I didn't see that in the instructions you had posted..

Can not find "unknown sources"

I guess my other option is to restore the phone back to factory and allow it to synch back my pictures and other apps.
