Memory issues; size of contacts increasing randomly

So for the past 18 hours or so I've been having issues with memory management. Not that I have too much music or anything, but I get a notification saying "Application Data Space is Low." I tap on the notification and it takes me to the screen where I can manage my applications and uninstall, clear the data, or clear the cache. Various times throughout the past evening this notification would pop up and I'd clear the data and cache of several applications. But then the notification would appear again.
I would look at the size of my contact manager and it increased from the high 40 MBs (around 48) to the 70s (72 MB to 75 MB).
Now when I try to fix it I constantly get messages popping up that say "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly."
HELP!
I'm on an HTC Incredible.
