im using UD 1.0.0., and i installed the swype app from the rom. I found the file but when i went to system app and pasted it told me that it was read only. Im using root explorer. What am i supposed to do now? id appreciate any help.

click the top right button when your in /system/app, it will mount system as read and wright, look for it in upper right in root explorer

it's because you aren't using the app Root Explorer. can't use any other file manager. they all show the folder empty.

Changed to read/write but can't find the .apk file . Not sure if ud1.0.0 stores it somewhere else since its a ud extra. Really need help

in your post before you said you found it,check your sdcard

Sorry about the confusion. What I find earlier was some sort of folder for swype. It didnt look like the other .apk files. Sd card has the beta files but not the released version

well,if it was something ud installed it prolly is a hacked version and it would most likely be swype.apk already. it has to be in /data/app or /system/app or /sdcard/ are you using root explorer to view the folders. i think if its on the sdcard it will be in .android folder. sorry i cant really help cause i did not install swype the same way as you

ok, so Ive done some very extensive searching and I can't find the file so I can change its name anywhere on my root or sd card. Any have any more ideas?
P.s. I've tried astro and Estrong's.

use root explorer, astro doesnt show /data/ folder.

Wow, so at least I found my problem. Thanks, I was getting SO confused. Guess I'll have to wait til tomorrow to get this badass theme for my swype. I haven't used it in a while, but since I'm running darkedge the white swiftkey really throws me off.

Supper manager is free and will let you read/rewrite. Just go into settings inside super manager after you download it and check the box that allows root permission.

im assuming your using the droid x or droid 2, just rename it back to the original name and back to its original directory,then it will be normal. it might still be themed but the OTA wont know, it just looks for the apk and stuff,not the images
