Mic not working, help!

I have same problem on my Milestone 2. Microphone not working, speaker and headphone work fine, but micro not, when make a call, i can hear but anyone can't hear i say...
I read this thread but not fix it.

For those frustrated because your phone call audio suddenly starts working only with speakerphone, I was having the same difficulty. Had to use a headset to listen to media files and put phone calls on speaker for phone audio. I found an app that will let me control the sound for my phone. It is called "Soundabout." Available on play store and free. I used the settings to set call audio for earpiece and media audio for speaker. There are multiple options for wired devices, bluetooth, etc., but this is what works for me. I believe your phone will still recognize if you have a headset or buds plugged in and play through them. This was just the easiest fix in the world for my old Note 2 that I am waiting to upgrade for the Note 4. I spent a couple of weeks frustrated with the phone not having the sound the way I wanted it before I found this app and set the audio settings. Hope this helps someone!!

Obviously, this is a long term issue with no proven solution. I have Moto X Play (same as Droid Maxx turbo 2) and recently discovered no one can hear when I make phone calls except when using loudspeaker. Believe me: No dropping and no water is involved here; it's just that everything was fine about one month ago until I downloaded "Sound Check" app. It worked fine when I used it a couple of times, but since I'm not a heavy caller, I didn't noticed my microphone was not working properly until recent date. Something happened inside the curse of that month and it's probably related to that app. Probably. Deleting it didn't work, BTW. Whatever, I'm in strong doubt about the microphone being actually damaged (unless Moto X Play has two mics, which as far as I know is not the case) since videos made with camera app are recorded with sound. However, Google TTS is useless and sound test apps don't register ambience sound, though a noticeable "hiss" sound is perceptible when playback. I use earphones very often for music and I already had suspicion about the earphones socket being related with the issue, as someone suggested above... 5 years ago! I haven't checked for it yet, but I'll do and see what happens... Though, I don't think it's a dirt related problem indeed
