Midwest Blizzard Report

So I'm in a northwest suburb of Chicago and thought since I'm stuck home today I would like to hear what's happening with others who encountered Blizzard '11. Anything crazy happen?? I have 7 ft drifts, can't push open my door, and there is a driving ban in effect. Also I thought the thunder/lightning show was intense!!

not sure on how much drift but I know we have a LOT, supposed to get 18 inches here in Michigan, and I hear sirens so something bad news bears probably just happened.

Wow...yeah people get all crazy when it snows. But this was understandable. I mean there were over 100 cars abandonded on Lake Shore Drive because of 1 accident! Insane! People raided the grocery stores and Home Depots for emergency supplies.

just got off the phone with my dad and apparently same here, driving ban and people on snowmobiles are rescuing stranded drivers and just taking them to stores, people need to realize that driving is a bad idea in a situation like this BEFORE the ban is stated lol. hopefully the weather gets better for you soon, I personally don't mind it because I love snow and have nothing better to do.

Up here in Sheboygan Wi our totals are not that high maybe 12 to 14 inches but the wind has blown this snow all over the place. Its all rural farm land around here so nothing blocks the wind. We have to plow our own roads and 15 minutes later there covered again.

Wow. Kinda sounds like the apocalypse haha. Its pretty trecherous here in west michigan by the big lake. Haven't really gone outside but looking out the window shows 2-3 feet of snow in the middle of the yard, not to mention piles from plows that look like they are well over my head.

Were missing out in Minnesota, at least where I'm at. We are already over 60 inches for the winter so I don't mind. Good to see mother nature spreading the love around.

Yeah it is kind of apocalyptic!! And I really don't mind snow, but ice and below zero winds SUCK! Hey, give me a paid day off to sit around and read thru DF? I'll take it!

My wife has family in Racine and they say it's pretty nasty with the lake wind. I'm just glad we didn't lose power. I feel so bad for those 60,000+ people who did. That's just miserable.

lol, I agree with the winds, I played capture the flag the other day, no snow but the below zero winds made my face feel insane, I'm pretty sure I tasted blood that day. I feel bad that you guys have to plow your own roads. I blame Minnesota lol.
