Milestone gets OTA 2.1 ***UPDATED***

NINE home screens? NINE?!?!

Now, I don't know much, but isn't the Milestone the same phone as the Droid, hardware-wise? So that would indicate that there shouldn't be any problem with 2.1 on the Droid having that many home screens, right?

See, now at this point, I'm going to be upset if we don't get five screens with 2.1, as the previous reports indicated it was still three. Helix is nice, but more than one or two widgets outside of the three main screens on it means endless force closes, which kinda defeats the purpose of the extra screens for me in a lot of ways. Having an official ROM with at least 5 would be wonderful, and now knowing that the hardware can handle that... I'm going to be upset if we don't get that eventually.

It's a geek thing. I haven't done it myself because, well I really just don't care that much, but the concept makes sense. It's about total control; seeing how far you can push the limits of a device. It's why people want to put Doom on everything; they want to be teh l33t hax00rs because it evokes a feeling of power and total control, hence why geeks often speak of taking over the world. What they really mean is they want to hax all your devices and n00b your gonz00r.

Back to topic. Any of you Euros got it yet? Pro's and con's? I'm assuming it's mostly pro's since the device is so great already.

This adds more fuel to my hypothesis that Verizon is holding 2.1 hostage due to its marketing schemes most likely involving the debut of Nexus One on 'the network'. Anyone continuing to entertain the idea that this was due to third-party distribution problems is buying their BS hook, line, and sinker, as they could have simply rolled out the OTA more slowly than originally planned.

Damn man, some of you people really need to chill out...

Apparently, a few Milestone owners have been experiencing problems with the Alarm function after they received the 2.1 update on their Milestones.

Here is the thread in the Milestone sub-forum from Androidforums >>>link>>> Alarm not working after 2.1 update

The European toll out will start with France and will go on until MID APRIL!!!

So much for the promise of Q1.

Ehh. Now that i have been rooted for over 2 months now I don't see why all the angry talk about the 2.1 update. I know, I know... not everyone wants to hack their phone, so yea this will be decently nice for them when its released. Still tho, my phone is running like a mad beast and can do SO MUCH MORE than it used to. I guess I am just saying why get so excited and enraged about the 2.1 update when in reality it is kind of like the bottom of the line ROM in the root world...

My biggest issue with the delay is simply this: Adobe Flash 10.1 and it's reliance on the 2.1 OS - I have a funny feeling that Flash 10.1 won't be making an official appearance until 2.1 goes live for the Droid. Notice it's still not available for the Nexus One.

I'm dying for Flash. I just hope it's as functional as it is on a PC. If so it will certainly make Youtube a lot more functional. I get the message about not being able to play the video and if I could just watch the video via the browser, double-tapping for full screen (like in that 2008? demo) I think that problem would be solved. Not to mention I could watch more porn on the phone (gotta have something to do at work besides play games when there's no work). Lastly, I could watch animations and hopefully play games on Newgrounds.com.

I'm actually kind of interested to see what being able to play flash games on the phone does to the Android market. I have a feeling that it may be better for the market because all of those stupid simpleton rehashings people keep making and selling will never get downloaded because you can already play it elsewhere for free. So instead we'll see real developers making real games. No sense having such a powerful and capable device if I'm just going to play 5 different versions of Sudoku and Tetris...

I got an unlocked Milestone (Droid) less than 2 weeks ago. I got an OTA update notification this past Friday. I'm in Canada, and I'm surprised that I haven't read/heard of anyone else getting the 2.1 update here.
I only have 5 screens and noticed that my alarm didn't go off this morning as scheduled :p
