Right, but what was unclear was how to proceed if you ALREADY flashed DT's modifier. From reading a couple threads it seemed like people who flashed DT's had success with flashing this. I assume they were meaning they deodexed after DT's script, then flashed this.

I have that in the OP due to bootlooping flashing DT's mod after being deodexed. But there have been reports of being able to deodex after running DT's mod. So take it as you will. That said if you are on DT's mod you "should" be able to flash the deodex zip then the 1% mod.

If I deodex will I see any noticeable difference in performance (for better or for worse)? Or is the main difference in the ability to theme?

Not gonna see a huge difference. Its main purpose is to make it easier to modify.
