Moto Droid calling people in the middle of the night

I haven't seen mine try to make any calls on its own yet, but now that we're on to the suspected Droid invasion, I'll be more vigilant.... :icon_eek:

I know the phone can do its own thing: I've got Pintail installed which responds automagically to a text message from another phone which gives a request for "locate" followed by a pin number that you've chosen with the Droids best estimate for its location (which could be a precise GPS location or an approximate location determined from cell signal). If it can do that, I don't see why it can't do the next step and make a phone call. But that would seem to be a bit too much automation. Were there any incoming text messages or other traffic that might be related to the calls?

Jim.

This morning (3am), I woke up to hearing someone saying "Hello? Hello? Hello?". When I looked at my phone, it had called 10 people, which were the last 10 people I had called the day before. I use my phone for business, so having it call people in the middle of the night is definitely not a good thing! :cus:

Has anyone else had their phone call people?

oh no, the invasion has begun. we must stop Skynet

Yes, this happened to one of my employees, too. It would randomly call people at 4am. He has no idea what is causing it. Anyone?

I'm happy to hear I am not the only one! I know it does seem crazy, but it really did happen and there are some people who are not happy with me because of it.

Trying to explain to people that your new phone called them during the night all by itself, just ends up making you look worse then just apologizing! At least they will just think your an ass, instead of a straight up loon.

Anyways, I have downloaded and deleted a bunch of apps, so it would be hard for me to track all apps, but some of the ones I have on my Droid are:

Advance Task Killer
Dope Wars <- Suspicious!
The Weather Channel
Mobile Buzz
Solitare
Flashlight
Astrid
Hit it lite
Madagascar
MixZing
ShopSavvy
Ultra Notes

The only one that sounds kind of shady is Dope Wars, and I did just download it last night before the invasion.... :icon_evil:

Well, I'm just reading post's in here because I'm getting my first Droid this weekend. Trying to learn something about them... see if anyone is haveing problems, and what the common bugs are. So tell me, 'cuz I'm a curious kinda guy.... why do you all leave your phones 'on' when you go to sleep? If your asleep, how do you know the 'phone phairy' didn't use you phone for a porn call?

Never had a problem with the phone making it's own calls. Then again, i turn my phone off when i go to sleep, so I can't really vouch for it. Sounds very strange though, could it be all the Droid users dreaming of their phones and accidently using them in their sleep?:p

the other night i had looked over to see if my notification light was blinking and noticed that the red eye that you see on startup was moving back and forth...i thought this was strange since the phone wasn't restarted and had been on all day....maybe they are taking over

Spooky lol! If only we could pick which people Droid may harrass in the middle of the night-I have a list where I would like it to start lol! My phone hasnt called anyone-maybe my Droid is just sleepy?:motdroidhoriz:

Mine has started moving all around my homescreen, selecting applications, and not responding to my touch commands. At first I thought It was something on the screen, so I cleaned it and my hands, but it is still acting up. Could it be an app?

I checked my Droid's call log and don't see any 3am callouts. Maybe the Droid is removing those entries from the call log?

I had to look up perspicacious in the Free Dictionary app.

Mine was making a ham sandwich at 4am and told me to go back to bed that I was just "dreaming" which I believed it until reading this....:icon_evil:
