Motorola Comfirms New Droid Keyboard

I wonder, if I were to take my phone back to BB and exchange it after the new kbs come out, would I get a newer model? I am on the 10$ a month insurance plan. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with other phones and newer models via BB's black tie policy?

Not sure why anyone would be surprised that they upgrade the hardware (in this case key board) and fix problems. Isn't that what they're supposed to do if they want to keep selling phones; fix the issues that customers are complaining about?

There's nothing wrong with updating hardware because it is needed or warranted (i.e. it's time for a better processor). But to update so quickly because they obviously used a very poor market study group is another story entirely. You can't please everyone, you shouldn't try. But when a great number of the early adopters all have the same critical response it shows a need to drastically change something in your R&D phase. In addition updating so quickly risks alienating your customers.

Personally this is my first Motorola phone in a number of years because I was less the impressed by their design, features and OS compared to the competition. The Droid has opened my mind to the company again, but such obvious oversights in design and implementation could easily have me going back to a company like HTC (though not for the Nexus, I can't stand the way it looks, lol).

eh, i dont use the hard board because sliding a phone open reminds me of when i had a glyde, and getting the shakes from the terror of remembering that phone hinders texting ability. i switch between better keyboard and swype depending on my mood.

I just hope they stick with the droid name, like droid 2,3, etc and keep them the same outer dimensions for accessory compatibility(cases and docks are cheap but its still nice to use the same ones when you get an upgrade)

Getting the Droid now was smart

I don't understand what the fuss is about. The Droid may not be perfect but it is a sweet phone.

Computers, TV's, cell phones all evolve and always get better a few months after you bought your now obsolete model.

I think getting the Droid is smart even if a newer phone with a sweeter keyboard comes out in the spring because now you have six months more experience with Android OS then if you waited, you know what apps you like and, when it is time to upgrade after 20 months or so there won't be just a few small changes but you will be going on to a phone that is significantly better than the Droid with the benefit of being an advanced user. ;)

at the end of january i will be able to prolong my mobile contract and get a new phone.
i wonder if i should play the waiting game and wait for new updated keyboard version?

the consensus seems to be that theyll reserve it for a droid 2 release or something... imo just pick up a droid, if your a good customer running a single line (family plans mean more loss of profit on upgrades)youll get a early upgrade or be able to weasel your way into one within 6 months to a year.

Oh boy, I wish my Droid had a 17 inch screen, full-size keyboard, CD drive, surround sound speakers, oh wait... I think I have one of those already! I still remember having a bag phone, so this thing rocks! And BTW, can someone incorporate a coffee maker into this thing, that's really all my Droids missing! :)

Everyone who is in to tech knew it was only a matter of time before any upgrades came out. So we can wait till October to see if a Droid 2 comes out :icon_ banana:.....if it does I'll be on the line ordering one up like I was with this device
