Motorola XT898 to be GSM version of Droid 4?

Am I missing something or is this the exact same phone as we already have. If Moto and Verizon screws around and sells these as different phones, with the only differentiation being firmware that they refuse to update, I will sell the phone immediately and never use Moto/Vz again.

Interesting that it will come with ICS. I wish these guys would quit with all the BS.

If this is true I'm completely floored by Motorola. Making an entirely separate phone that has a working feature we're capable of? This is outrageous! As if the whole Razr Developer Edition wasn't a big enough slap in the face! Motorola is terrible.

Seriously. If it got out that the only difference between the 2 phones was an unlocked feature already present and an OS that should have come standard, this would be an embarrassing PR gaffe.

I thought the only reason why D4 didn't come with ICS was because they were testing the OS with the hardware. Looks like it passed with flying colors. Guess they're waiting to see if only releasing it on the "D4 Global" will stimulate sales.

This is beyond scummy.

Aren't Moto and VZW at some point going to issue a patch to make the D4 a "world phone"?

If it's out by July, I guess I'll get it instead of the D4. Might as well get the newest phone.

It would seem like they have no intention of updating the D4's already present global capabilities. That way they can charge more for a specific "world" phone. Hopefully, as usual, the dev community can develop a patch that will allow us to use the phones the way Moto/VZ should have.

But make no mistake, Silverfang. It's the exact same phone that is out right now.

No need to get up in arms yet. I believe that will be a GSM only (NO LTE) version of the Droid 4. Also, the USA Droid 4 will get ICS, that is for sure.
