My Droid screen shattered!!!

:icon_eek:

I feel the sudden urge to wrap my phone in bubble wrap. Many layers of bubble wrap.

UGH! That's awful!

Here's hoping for a quick, easy, & for the most part painless replacement.

Oh man, what a drag. You should be ok with all your apps and such though.

Two questions:

On what type of surface was the Droid dropped?

What face of the Droid took the impact?

you know.. this is pretty interesting. Personally, I've noticed that the droid screen is indestructible. I was going to post earlier about how today I burned my screen and its still 100% perfect...

errrr... NOT "indestructable"''...

My droid laying on floor, face up... I sitting on sofa with heavy ashtray beside me... I stand up, ashtray drops off sofa onto droid.. Droid screen was broken with hole in right corner and "spider legs" running down the screen. Do not have insurance, but the one year warranty kicked in.. paid US$50.00 for a "replacement" droid.. All is well now.

Second time I have read of someone using the manufacturer's warranty to replace a Droid with broken glass. Just how does this warranty, which covers manufacturing defects, cover damage from dropping the phone or dropping something heavy on it? I feel like I'm wasting $8 a month.

Seriously! How is the manufacturer going to cover that with their warranty, since it wasn't a defect?

Do they offer some sort of replacement policy, if it's just the glass that's broken and nothing else? You mentioned paying $50 for a replacement -- the normal warranty doesn't have any replacement cost associated with it. Is this a $50 "glass breakage" replacement of some sort?

Curious minds want to know!

(EDIT: Just FYI, I've dropped my phone once -- cat knocked it off my desk onto the hardwood floor. No damage. I've never even THOUGHT about setting it on fire -- but it's good to know that the Droid's face is fire-resistant. LOL)

Weird how you didn't look at phone immediately after you picked it up from dropping it. That'd be my first reaction which is "holy ****, I hope my phone ain't broke", wake phone, unlock, call someone, etc. .

Hmmm?

That's Exactly What I Was Thinking.

I'm pissed i just paid $89 deductable for my "replacment" and i was "smart" enough to have ins. on my $600 dollar phone

I dropped it on ice and snow with some sand and gravel in it (ski resort parking lot).... mostly ice though

I believe it hit on the very edge of the screen see the picture in an earlier post

Thanks. I see the picture now. My soon-replaced blackberry browser omitted it earlier.

Broken screen

Ya know, your picture looks like a wallpaper I downloaded. Broken glass screen. Now I know where they got the picture - ha.

Hey there.. Blazer again...

To be honest, all I did was go to the Verizon Store that I bought it from. I was expecting to hear that if I wanted it fixed, I would have to pay full price... but the Verizon Tech on site looked at it, kinda smiled and shook his head, then said "We have an app for that" that Verizon will charge me US$50.00 for a replacement phone but they had to send it out from their distribution site. I GLADLY pulled out my credit card! In two days, had the replacement phone. The replacement phone did not have a battery or the battery cover... but interestingly, it had a 16GB SD Card. I pulled my battery and my SD Card out of the old phone. Replaced my 16GB SD Card into the replacement and put the replacement SD Card into the broken phone. Put the battery from the broke phone into the replacement phone. Used the battery cover from the broke phone onto the replacement phone. I then activated it.. used google to d/l all my apps.. All is well.

So, I do applaud Verizon for their customer support (at least in THIS case).

Have a GREAT day... and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone...
