my razr shattered this morning :(

Gotta love it. All that schooling and not a lick of common sense. I hope she's not working in a critical care department. "Ooops, sorry Doc, I just dropped that heart on the floor while I was trying to catch my third iPhone...but I saved the phone."

LOL... yes, it was CCU. :icon_eek:

Fortunately, holding and manipulating hearts is my job, not hers. :happy3:

I dropped my RAZR last month and of course the glass shattered. At least I had insurance - only had to pay $99 instead of full retail price!

This will surely make you laugh.....

I work with nurse who bought an iPhone off contract and paid full price for it. She was carrying it in her scrub top pocket and bent over and out popped the iphone flat on the floor and the screen shattered. She paid to have it repaired but didn't like it because the housing had a small dent so she paid FULL price for another one. A couple days later, she was showing us what happened - yes, a live demonstration - and when she bent over "like this", out popped the new phone and flat on to the floor it went....and she shattered another screen. :icon_ devil: :icon_ lala:

No laughing here - that's truly sad. Might be a little late, but for iPhone (or iPad, iPod) repairs I highly recommend Milliamp at Solutions for Apple's iPhone Repair . These guys replaced a battery in my iPod and I was totally blown away by their service. They let me know every step of the way what to expect and even sent me an email when just to let me know it was waiting in queue.

Maybe they can repair her old one and she can sell it on eBay or something.

I don't know why people don't understand this. Gorilla glass is not shatterproof, its scratch resistant and more durable than regular glass. Don't depend on it to keep your phone same from a 4 foot drop.

In certain circumstances, the chemical hardening process actually makes the glass MORE likely to shatter when stressed just the wrong way, especially if force is transferred to the edges. Gorilla glass is under constant internal stress. The main point of using this is to prevent scratches and cause the glass to fracture in a controlled fashion. Do note that due to these internal stresses, anything worse than a minor surface scratch WILL cause the glass to eventually fail, sometimes seemingly at a random time. I suspect that this is what accounts for those "exploding Droid screen" incidents.

So you're saying that tempering glass has the same effect as tempering metal, its harder and more rigid, yet more prone to shattering? And of course in the manufacturing process can induce micro blemishes, therefore exponentially increasing the risk of the "exploding DROID screen" .... If I'm following correctly, sounds plausible to me.

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!

@ the OP... if you're concerned about a decent case able to fit your Razr, get one of Verizon's TPU cases (or any TPU case for that matter). Or like someone stated before, OB's Commuter case. These are all thin and sleek enough for the Razr to keep its thickness, as well as allowing you to use the car dock.
